I give credit to the authorities who authorized the complete shut down of the airways. A rare decisive act which cleared the skies for the Air Force to be in control of the skies, without fear of shooting down "innocent" planes.

The most encouraging aspect of this short speech, to me, was the lack of ANY mention of the UN, or of multilateralism- the President stated that we have notified foreign governments that WE will do whatever is necessary to protect America and Americans.

I suspect that a Clinton speech on this topic would have been far, far different- it looks like we managed to elect a REAL PRESIDENT just in time.

The response needs to be fast and intense. He needs to make sure that everyone in the world understands they do not want something like this to happen again.

A good start would be to start with Afghanastan and tell them they have one hour to give up Ben Laden.

If he is not given up with in the hour then one Afghan city should be removed from the faced of the earth.

I voted for W, but found this a very disappointing speech and statement, in particular. Maybe I misunderstood, but to me this statement smacks of tracking down a few terrorists and putting them on trial. Been there, done that. In the face of 10,000+ casualties, that is an insigniicant response and merely would encourage future attacks. What is needed is to exact massive retribution against the perpetrators and all of those, who gave and give them, support and comfort at national and street levels.
