CALM DOWN-We are at War.Now How do we decide who to fight and how to fight
Just an ole combat veteran | now | me

War has been brought home to us in a very dramatic way. Television has a way of doing things with war that isn't reality.

God Bless America and may Bush do the right thing

Tommowor a cold deadly rage will settle over this country. IF this is an arab country(and I stress IF ) we should turn it into a very large parking lot, Our responce should fill the world with dread. These people want terror....ok here's terror.

Fox is reporting that Osima Bin Laden had a lot of pilots. IF he and his people are responsible, their leaders should be offed and their camps turned into a glass parking lot.

My Flag is flying!

So is mine - I put it up right away. People up and down my street soon followed. Those terrorists need to know that America is NOT terrorized - we're pissed off.

Blood Donor Bump!!!

I called the Red Cross this morning. For those of us who received the letters regarding 'Mad Cow', that restriction was not to go into effect until 9/17. I suspect that ARC will delay implementation until this crisis is over.

For those unaware, the restriction was to apply to those who had lived in Europe for 6 months total after 1980, and England for 3 months after 1980.

Another $.02 of mine, for what its worth:

Let's use some common sense here. The only organization capable of mounting such a coordinated attack could be Osama bin Laden. The amount of money, people, and other resources needed for such an operation COULD NOT have gone unnoticed under any other circumstance.

The moral authority for the Palestinian cause went up in the same smoke that now blankets Manhattan.

I have great confidence that our elite fighting units (Rangers, Seals, Delta Force) will acquit themselves admirably in the weeks and months to come. Of course, our aviators and pilots will do a fine job.

I am comforted by the quality and experience of our current leaders, and am convinced that they will do what is right and NECESSARY.

I would not want to be Osama's insurance agent right now.

Ok, here's a war agenda. Plan to win, and recognize that the terrorists have given us an opportunity to clear the deck of a number of longstanding problems. Emphasis on "oppportunity."

(1)Bush goes on tv, expresses profound sympathy for the victims, but no biting of the lip, no tears, no trembling voice. This is war, there will be casualties, and this is a war message.

(2)In private communications to the allies and "moderate" Middle Eastern nations, tell them it's war -- a real war -- and they are with us or against us. We expect them to be with us.

(3)Specifically, and initially in private, we tell the Egyptians, Kuwaitis, Saudis, Turks, Pakistanis, etc. that this is an all-out reckoning with the entire terrorist entente. They can be with us or against us, but since U.S. troops need to be deployed to the region, they'd better be with us. If they're not, we're prepared to occupy and run the oilfields as an international trust for the next 50 years. The troops are coming either way.

(4)Iraq, Iran, Libya, Syria, the Palestinians (and any other governments around the world with a toe in the terrorist camp, including specifically Cuba) are given an ultimatum. This would first be given privately. If not acted upon by a time certain (I suggest 72 hours), the ultimatum would be made public as part of a war message to Congress. Among other things, those 72 hours must be used to lay down the law to Congress. If Bush is firm, there will not be more than a dozen opponents on the Hill.

(5)The terms of the ultimatum are open to discussion. At a minimum, IMO, we should: (a) Present a comprehensive list of names developed by U.S., Israeli, and other allied intelligence over the last 20 years of individuals connected with terrorist crimes. The governments that shelter these people should be given 72 hours to produce them, or we're going to come get them. It may take a year to get troops in position, but in the meantime, it's war, and that means the airfields, communications systems, electrical systems, etc. are hit immediately, and the troops WILL come over the hill to clean up when they can. (b) Present a comprehensive list of on site inspection measures, as intrusive as necessary, to be implemented immediately. They have 72 hours to think it over, or the troops are coming.(c)Other measures may be added; (a) and (b) are just a start.

(6)Bush should immediately order a military callup; if the demands are met, we can stand down.

(7)If the private ultimatum is not met, Bush should present a formal war message to Congress. And in every public statement he must emphasize that terrorism has been a cancer for 30 years; this is just the biggest single event, but it is nothing new except that it's come home here; that this is a dirty war against terrorists, and we must expect casualties; but that we are going to win this war, and the guilty will be punished.

(8)Arafat should be told he will immediately accept a real peace settlement that guarantees Israel's security; that part of that settlement is his own departure; and that his alternative is to hang with Osama bin Laden.

That's a start. Bush needs to make the right statement today, and he needs to do the rest within a couple of days. And he should immediately use this occasion to short circuit the truly petty bickering over the budget, say this is war, and do what needs to be done on defense.

P.S. Bush also needs to be very clear that we are not terrorists. We will not wage war on innocents. That means we will accept the burden of troops on the ground and the attendant casualties. But troops on the ground also means that the pro-terrorist governments cannot hide. They can root out the terrorists themselves, or they will be replaced. This may mean a big war, but it is one we will win if we fight to win. And if an American expeditionary force has to prop up a puppet regime in Iraq or Syria for ten years, so be it. We will pay for it with Arab oil, and we will stay a generation if necessary to build a civilized successor regime.

PPS. All this rests on three assumptions. (1) Low level terrorism can be sustained the grassroots, but sophisticated, sustained, large scale terrorism requires governmental protection and support, including an elaborate propaganda apparatus to condition the masses. Strike to kill at the guilty governments, and the terrorist threat CAN be curtailed. (2) Today's events are capable of catalyzing the American public, if our leaders are up to it. (3) Bush is up to it.

I am reasonably confident of (1) and (2). We'll see about (3). Bush needs to understand that this is the WHOLE ball of wax, right now. Fail this test, his presidency is lost. Meet the challenge, and he can carry most of his agenda for the next six years, domestically as well as internationally. I think I'm going to say a prayer.

We MUST have proof before we react.

No we don't!

Terrorist training camps exist with one purpose in mind.
They cannot exist without the knowledge and support from the host government.
Every host government must pay a price for this.

You some kind of moron?

This is clearly war, as it is the biggest attack on the continental US by a foreign power since the War of 1812 and the sacking of Washington. As a result of our imperial foreign policy, we have plenty of enemies all over the world. We also have homegrown lefty-green freaks that want us to go back to savage hunting/gathering lifestyles. Who did it? We may never know. My bet is (1) the Iraqis, or (2) the so-called "anarchist" movement, as they are well-funded and well-organized.

Assuming (remember OKC) this his been sponsered(sp) by an arab country, they WILL find out just what war is alll about.

Considering the date Sep 11, the targets-World trade center, external symbols of US power Pentagon, and the method of attack -- hijacking airliners. It is immediately obvious to the most casual observer that the fingerprints are middle eastern in origin. Most likely Iraqi, with Osama( or however his name is spelled) as the impetus. Beware the coming storm.

The equivalent of Pearl Harbor

This is war

No, a whole lot worse than Pearl Harbor ever dreamed of being, but it is war, for sure.

"Simply nuking a nation is an insane act since 99.999999% of the people have nothing to do with the act."

Tough $hit! Like the a$$hole Palis dancing in the streets in Lebanon and on the West Bank and Gaza, they support the terrorist war effort, in the most generous cases simply by being.

Kill them all ... nits make lice!

#16: "The country has just taken a monumental turn to the Right. But, how long before Dashle and Gephardt get on TV and blame Bush's foreign policy and tax cut?"

Anyone who thinks you're exaggerating about the above two (tip of the ice-berg) DemocRAT cynical opportunists ... is a FROG in the water, and one of the "useful idiots" Karl Marx talked about.

We are in this situation right now because (just as in the past) we have permitted the panty-waist, namby-pamby feminized males and other left-wing appeasers and coddlers this country to call the shots when dealing with aggressors and terrorists here and abroad.

The mentalities that don't want individual American citizens to be armed for self-protection are the same ones who don't want the United States to spend money on "national DEFENSE".

They are the same ones that allow themselves and their children to suffer at the hands of bullies in their own local neighborhoods because "confrontation" is too "upsetting."

Eventually they will have to face the reality that bullies and shake-down artists laugh at the "NICE" unarmed lame-brains who want to stick posies in the gun barrels, hold hands and hum, "give peace a chance", for the hundredth time.

BTW I justnow heard Fox announce that the *current estimate* of the dead stands at 10,000.

Bush is at an unknown location and has made a videotape which is being played on Fox right now.

is an insane act since 99.999999% of the people have nothing to do with the act.

Ok let's assume you're right for the moment.

Let's give the population of the capitals of Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lybia and Yemen 48 hours to evacuate and then destroy those cities.

THEN

Give the 99.999999% you mention 24 hours to turn over their know terrorists.

If there is no response, then, start reducing the population.

Speaking of insane, how do you characterize today's incidents?
And how can you deal with the violence of insanity with calm deliberation?

Stay cool and survive.

This is a moment of opportunity for gun-grabbers and the NWO crowd. Let's not allow the boob tube to control our emotions. Some might like nothing better than to sacrifice Americas youth in a massive, middle-east bloodbath. After that, nothing would stand in the way of globalist takeover.
