Fox News says 80 miles SOUTH EAST of Pittsburgh. That's not "western" Pennsylvania.

Was it shot down?

Has to be the hijacked plane. They were taking no chances.

To: GIVE BLOOD TODAY!
NYC emergency personnel are urging people to give blood. NYC centers will be overwhelmed, but blood can be brought in from other places. Do it today!

80- miles east of Pitt is still western PA, IMO.
It went down in Sommerset county. It was a 767 from Cleveland to Chicago via Pittsburgh. It was definately hijacked.
No word on if the pilot crashed it on purpose, or if it was shot down, or what.

People in the area would consider themselves in western PA.

Local news reports it was a 767 OUTSIDE a normal flight path.

I'm wondering if the pilot bravely ditched the plane instead of crashing into a building as the hijackers demanded.

KDKA had Hackworth on. He says that he has heard that 11 planes have been hijacked. This airliner was one of them. This plane was hijacked from NY/Cleveland headed to Chicago. 200-300 passengers. Somerset county is very rural. I wonder if the pilot sacrificed the plane himself.

I'd expect to hear it was shot down.
