I would only be fertilizing with fresh chicken manure every early spring and then using cattle manure from the closest dairy farm twice every summer. My neighbors would know they tried to screw the wrong ole boy.

Chicken manure is so hot that it will melt snow as it breaks down and the water in the snow would keep it fresh smelling for a month.

Mr. G. had a great veggie garden on the upwind side of his 'neighbors', and he kept it well fertilised from his dairy herd. Neighborhood never had a stray dog or cat problem, either. LOL.
