NEW CASTLE A couple arrested after allowing a stripper to dance naked at a party for Horace Greeley High School students is now under investigation by Child Protective Services for letting their 17-year-old son watch the woman's performance.
New Castle police reported Robert and Rochelle Wien to the state child abuse hotline on Thursday, Detective Sgt. James Carroll told The Journal News yesterday. The case was referred to the Westchester Department of Social Services, and a senior caseworker has been in contact with the family.
Carroll said police are required to notify the state hotline about any potential improprieties or abuse involving children under 18 years old. Nancy Travers, deputy commissioner of the county Department of Social Services, said confidentiality rules prohibited her from commenting in any way about child protective cases. She would neither confirm nor deny that the Wiens were under investigation.
The Wiens hosted a party Saturday night at their James Road home that more than 50 teen-agers attended to celebrate the end of summer and kick off the Greeley football season.
The couple's 17-year-old son, Jeremy, is a third-string quarterback on the team, and school officials have said that at least a dozen other team members attended the party. Authorities have said many students were drinking beer, and some were smoking marijuana.
When police responded for the second time that night to a noise complaint from the neighborhood, they found the Wiens and dozens of cheering students watching a 31-year-old stripper lying naked on the backyard patio.
The woman, who has not been charged, reportedly let teen-age boys lick whipped cream from her breasts and had some of them help her simulate sex acts with a sex toy.
The Wiens were each charged with endangering the welfare of a child and unlawfully dealing with a child, misdemeanors punishable by up to a year in the county jail. They are due in New Castle Town Court on Thursday. The couple have declined to comment on the case and were unavailable yesterday. A lawyer reportedly handling their case has not returned several telephone calls.
Nice buzz slogans, but where's the substance of your argument? This has nothing to do with Ritalin or dolls. Here's a thought: real men don't do these sorts of things -- at any age. So, parents who raise men don't let their boys act like this.
I didn't and they didn't. How old are you again? I feel like I'm arguing with a teenager.
Are you still involved with the Million Moms March people?
Do you still consider yourself a "liberal social activist"?
After the years you spent around education circles you should know the definition and, the difference between a "libertine" and a libertarian.
Have you ever heard of Berry Goldwater or Ronald Reagan? Would you say that they were "libertine"?
Reagan and Goldwater both unapologetically considered themselves libertarian. I know that might be hard for an anti-gun, social liberal to figure out.
I might suggest that you go back and study what libertarian really means.
This is a juvenile remark and speaks for itself. Pity.
Puritanical frenzy...I see that Christian bashing is alive and well in this thread, too. Let's see, these people had a large group of minors, a stripper, marijuana and booze at a party. Either the rule of law is in effect or you must find yourself on Clinton's side of the argument that personal actions are not subject to the law.
Moral purity, though old-fashioned, is still important for many reasons. Most importantly, it is one of the foundations of a strong family.
You hit the nail on the head. These ridiculous concurrent sentences are to get around the stupid parole policies.
Consider that in Ohio, rape is a death penalty offense or at least that's an option. I can't remember that option
being exercised. So rapists get 20 years and are out in 3 to rape again. We just had a case here where a man
was convicted of raping a dozen or so college women. He got 200 some odd years strung concurrently. What this
means is he'll be out in 40 some years. Parole system is broken.
I think the death penalty is needed for rape and especially for pedophiles.
This is an ad hominem attack. Do you want to discuss ideas and issues, or make petty attacks?
 Libertarians no doubt.
Your stats are changing. What happened to 50% of all kids, your previous claim?
 No I've always heard 1946-1964.
Authorities have said many students were drinking beer, and some were smoking marijuana. Authorities have said many students were drinking beer, and some were smoking marijuana. Authorities have said many students were drinking beer, and some were smoking marijuana. Authorities have said many students were drinking beer, and some were smoking marijuana. Authorities have said many students were drinking beer, and some were smoking marijuana. Authorities have said many students were drinking beer, and some were smoking marijuana.
Sigh. That is hardly a logical comparison. Reno was hardly a fair administrator of the rule of law. We need to be rid of Reno, not the rule of law. Get the difference?
You think all the rest of those 75% stayed home?
I'm standing by my stats here.
Whether it be Reno(REALLY Bad), Ashcroft(alright), Jenny Granholm(bad), Dick Blumenthal(REALLY SUCKS) or John McBain(Should be a judge).
Fine. So where is the line? There were fifteen year olds there. So is that too far below the line? If fifteen is okay, why not fourteen? Or, twelve?
The line of majority has to be set somewhere. Pick an age. But, one set, parents have to respect it -- if not for their own children, for the parents of the other children involved.
The State should not let anyone give my minor child an abortion -- or show them a lewd act. You have to support both -- or condemn both.
I have also been told recently that many parents allow their children to watch pornographic films as weekend entertainment.
There's more to it than that. I don't want people roaring up my residential street at 100 mph. It's a risk to me, whether or not they actually strike and kill a member of my family. To cite these speeders represents the common good of the community. The same case could be made for this situation.
What stats? All you have is some anecdotal evidence based on your experience. That's hardly global, measurable, or verifable. Now I remember why I always wanted to pull my hair out trying to teach college students to write supportable arguments.
