Kings Mountain, N.C. -- Five people are in custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a mentally disabled Kings Mountain teen.
Kings Mountain Police Department said Thursday that they have two confessions out of the five suspects in the murder of Justin Braswell, 19.
Braswell was shot Sunday morning in Kings Mountain as he walked to his grandmother's house from a street dance.
Police say three of the suspects are juveniles and two are adults. All will be charged with murder, armed robbery and attempted armed robbery.
The two adult suspects in custody are Timothy McDowell, 18, and David Glover, 21, who says he was not involved in the murder.
Kings Mountain Police Chief Houston Corn tells a different story -- one where a 14-year-old actually pulled the trigger using a .22 caliber handgun. But Houston says the others played enough of a role to be charged with murder.
"The motive for this was robbery," says Corn, who also said that Braswell had $22 in his pocket before he was shot and that it was missing when he was found in the street.
McDowell, seen here in a squad car, is currently being held at the Cleveland County Jail.
Investigators also say there is a possibility these suspects were involved in other area cases of armed robbery.Family and friends gathered to remember Justin Wednesday night at a memorial service.
"If you meet one human being in your lifetime that moves you, that was Justin," said Rob Bumgardner.
Justin was a lover of music, and had learned to run the lights for a band Bumgardner is a member of, "Triple Vision."
"He love the street dances, he love the band and he love operating the lights and he loved the music," said band member Bumgardner.
Counselors have been on hand at Justin's school to help students cope with their loss.
"Because this was so senseless, it is difficult to reassure the children that it is not going to happen to them," said Nellie Aspel, Principal at North Shelby School.
