10 Reasons To Boycott the NAACP (Rev. Peterson's Solutions to the NAACP's Problems)
by Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson

SpinTimes Exclusive Commentary
09/10/2001

As many of you know, eight weeks ago, I called for a national boycott of the NAACP. Some of you have asked us, "Why are you and your organization B.O.N.D. leading a boycott of the NAACP?" The reason is fairly simple: The NAACP no longer stands for the advancement of black people, but instead, appears to stand for the advancement of the Democratic Party and its partisan platforms. The past two Presidential election races, for instance, provide plenty of evidence of that. In contrast, at B.O.N.D., we are committed to the advancement of blacks and all Americans.

To further illustrate our reasoning for boycotting the NAACP, we have provided our "10 Reasons To Boycott the NAACP", with additional commentary:

1. The NAACP Has Sold Out Its Original Intent: "Where the organization once sought to give black Americans a helping hand, today the NAACP is squandering their mantle of leadership through petty, partisan and even racist activities."
Dr. King believed one day we would be judged on the content of our character, not on the color of our skin. The NAACP appears to believe in judging on the color of one's skin. At B.O.N.D., we believe in Dr. King's dream. One of our popular and successful programs is our "After School Character Building Program" for high school-aged boys. In short, where the NAACP encourages anger and divisiveness, at B.O.N.D. we encourage forgiveness and unity.

2. Absent Fathers: "The suicide rate for young black males aged ten to nineteen increased by 114% since 1980. Where are black fathers, and where is the NAACP?"
The abandonment of black families by fathers is a disgrace, and the number one cause of the unprecedented destruction occurring in the black community. Yet, the NAACP appears to be more interested in damaging a Republican President. At B.O.N.D., our purpose is "Rebuilding the Family By Rebuilding the Man" -- we work daily to help strengthen the family. B.O.N.D. holds weekly "Men's Meetings", in which the bonds of commitment and family are continually strengthened.

3. Out-of-Wedlock Births: "Over 70% of black babies are born out of wedlock, compared to 26% of white babies. Where is the outcry from the NAACP?"
In the black community today, out-of-wedlock births are celebrated with baby showers. At B.O.N.D. we are bringing back shame to this unfortunate practice. Regular "Women's Meetings" help instill decency in the young women we work with.

4. Abortion: "Black women are three times more likely than white women to have an abortion. There are 1,452 black children aborted every day. What is the NAACP doing about this?"
Margaret Sanger, a racist and eugenicist, could be called the "Mother of Abortion". She viewed abortion as a means of weeding out blacks, amongst other "undesirables". Today, most abortion clinics are located in minority neighborhoods. The NAACP will not stand against the slaughter of unborn black babies, but B.O.N.D. does, working with pro-life organizations to stop the killing.

5. Education: "Forty four percent of black Americans over the age of fourteen cannot read. Sixty percent of black fourth graders cannot do basic mathematics. Calling the NAACP!"
The literacy rate in the black community is abominable, but where is the NAACP outcry? B.O.N.D. tutors young people through our "B.O.N.D. Home For Boys", where we house "at risk" young men, also helping them to overcome anger, enter the job market, and start businesses.

6. Crime: "Murder is the leading cause of death for black men between the age of fifteen and thirty four, and 90% of these murders are committed by other blacks. Where is the NAACP?"
The NAACP will not seriously address the family breakdown and resulting rage which is at the heart of crime. B.O.N.D. works to find the cause of violence, so that it can be prevented. B.O.N.D. provides individual and family counseling to help diffuse situations before they start, as well as conflict resolution, to solve difficult issues.

7. Illegal Immigration: "Has exploded in the United States in recent years, pushing blacks out of their neighborhoods, schools, and jobs. The NAACP refuses to take action against this."
This invasion will not be solved by politicians, and certainly not by the NAACP, and so the people must do it. B.O.N.D. has worked with pro-America organizations to help stop illegal immigration for many years and will continue to do so until our borders are secure and our laws respected.

8. Voting Rights for Violent Offenders: "The NAACP is in favor of restoring voting 'rights' for millions of murderers, rapists, and other violent criminals!"
What about the victims of violent crime who have permanently lost their "rights"? B.O.N.D. is not interested in coddling criminals, but instead has a prison outreach to help inmates overcome the emotional issues that often drive them to commit crimes.

9. Dangerous Alliances: "The NAACP consistently aligns itself with political parties and politicians who work against the best interests of the black community."
B.O.N.D. does not endorse or even "virtually endorse" candidates for public office, and allies itself only with men and women of character.

10. Guns and Blacks: "The NAACP has filed a class-action lawsuit against gun manufacturers, in effect blaming them for black on black crime, but statistics show guns don't kill black people, other blacks do."
At B.O.N.D., we believe in the God-given right to self-defense, and fully support the Second Amendment to the Constitution, knowing it to be an individual right, and a critical one.

We have asked those who want to help boycott the NAACP to take these actions:

1. Contact the NAACP Headquarters and ask them to explain why they are refusing to deal with the real problems in the black community.
Phone: (877) 622-2798 / (410) 358-8900.
FAX: (410) 358-3818.
Email: jbond@naacpnet.org .
Mail: NAACP, 4805 Mt. Hope Drive, Baltimore, MD 21215.

2. Withdraw your membership, financial support and / volunteer time from the organization.
Spread the word: Tell a friend. Call. Email. Let your voice be heard. Do what the NAACP refuses to do - stand for something good!
