The first National Book Festival, hosted by Laura Bush and sponsored by the Library of Congress, brought together readers and writers on the East Lawn of the Capitol over the weekend for a day-long literary love-in.
Throughout Saturday's free event some 25,000 folks moved from book signings to author presentations to readings by professional basketball players to booths on literacy programs to musical performances to misting machines to food stands to the library itself, across the East Lawn, for self-guided tours of its Great Hall.
