Condoleeza Rice Weighs in on Reparations and the (Racist) Racism Conference

WASHINGTON -- U.S. National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, one of the most influential blacks in the Bush administration, said Sunday she doesn't think African-Americans should be compensated for the wrongs of slavery.

Rice said the United Nations conference on racism, which ended in Durban, South Africa, on Saturday without U.S. participation, looked too much at the past by focusing on the issue of reparations for slavery and on finding ways to condemn Israel.

She'll probably be called some kind of female uncle tom or something, but its good to see that Bush isn't "reaching out" so far as to support this reparations nonsense just so he can get more black votes that he will never ever get.

Now if only he and his justice department could stop supporting racial preferences he might even get me to come out and vote for him in '04.

So, then according to the doctrines of liberalism they must therefore have been oppressed in some way, and are therefore in need of reparations.

At least she said what was right, most of the time anymore liberals light flames and republicans say it still isn't hot enough yet.

A fair point to raise. The question is: why did she jump into it? This was a point she could have declined to comment on as it is a domestic political affair (international "reparations" just doesn't have the same resonance within the black community as the prospect of payback for slavery might). But she went ahead and denounced it full bore.

The answer is rather simple: she wanted to serve notice to the black community in particular (most notably the "black leadership") and the nation in general that this was one black person who was rejecting out of hand the siren song of reparations. It is a direct challenge to JJ, Mfume, Bond, and the rest of that gang.

I'm betting that the racist gangsters over at the NAACP have no idea what they're up against.

Anyone want to give me the over and under on how many days before JJ or someone like him (such as the Reberend Al) come out and denounce Condi as "out of the mainstream" of the black community?
