Vitiate comes from Latin vitiare, from vitium, fault. It is related to vice (a moral failing or fault), which comes from vitium via French.

These people haven’t made significant changes in anything, at least, not for the better. The beast is vitiating(2) every organization that she touches. The more corrupt, the more she can control it. To honor her at this point only goes to show that the last eight years have viatiated any sense of morality and honesty within the minds of the masses.
