Fearful Female Students Take Up Arms

Young women terrified of a serial rapist in the college city of Fort Collins, Colo., have taken their safety and protection into their own hands ? arming themselves with handguns and joining the ranks of gun rights advocates.

"I don't want to live in fear, I don't want to be afraid about going out at night. I just want him to know not everyone is going to be submissive," a 23-year-old college student said Friday as she announced she had obtained a .38-caliber special revolver.

Referring to the quote in bold, I guess Barney Fife there hasn't put himself in the shoes of a campus rapist. Personally, I think if I were a campus rapist, I certainly wouldn't want everyone packing heat. I'd greatly prefer they be totally disarmed.

Of course, he's probably a liberal, so it doesn't matter what statistics show and common sense backs up. It only matters what it feels like to him.

You have to understand that this guy Chaffee has to answer to the school hierarchy, rather than the student body. He is a powerless thug, beholden to some liberal, tie-dyed, semi-stoned "administrator" for his job, and he knows it. Any ex-LEO or ex-military who takes the job and doesn't suck up the gag reflex doesn't last long. And I can attest to the fact that the Rocky Mountain High types live to make the veterans grovel

In all six cases, a woman in her twenties was attacked in her apartment. Police say the assailant entered the homes through unlocked doors or windows.

Unless she sleeps with the gun under her pillow and wakes up very fast, it may not be a lot of help.

If I couldn't have the entire campus disarmed, I'd be satisfied to have those who are packing and those who refuse identifying themselves in the newspaper.

Sheesh! The kindest thing those who are packing could do is keep their names a secret. That way the rapist would never know whether his target was "safe" or not. Of course, he could focus on those who say, "I would never carry a gun."
