1. To make faulty, or imperfect; to render defective; to impair; as, exaggeration vitiates a style of writing.
2. To corrupt morally.

4. To render ineffective; as, fraud vitiates a contract.

Vitiate comes from Latin vitiare, from vitium, fault. It is related to vice (a moral failing or fault), which comes from vitium via French.

Here is my example with WFTD:

This year's 12 honorees including Hillary Rodham Clinton, Christy Turlington, Sarah Ferguson, Marlo Thomas, Heather Mills and Lilly Tartikoff, have made extraordinary contributions to health care -- from helping to develop an AIDS vaccine to raising money for a new breast cancer treatment. Hillary Rodham Clinton will give the keynote address.

Hitlery Rodman Xlinton is being honored as a Mother and Shaker of the Year? What on earth is Redbook thinking, oh wait, look at it’s name… Redbook. These people haven’t made significant changes in anything, at least, not for the better. The beast is vitiating(2) every organization that she touches. The more corrupt, the more she can control it. To honor her at this point only goes to show that the last eight years have viatiated any sense of morality and honesty within the minds of the masses.
