If you click on Salon, you might see a banner ad at the top which reads, "Let The Government Pay For Your Subscription". Aside from this line being a reflection of the liberal mindset that the tax rebate is actually the government's, rather than the taxpayer's money, I find it amusing that Salon, whose readership consists largely of people who rabidly opposed the Bush tax cut, is now encouraging people to use a portion of that tax cut to further Salon's self-interests.
A note on Salon's columnists: These sharp-witted advocates have attracted many Premium subscribers. But we have also heard from readers who insist that the only thing preventing them from signing up is the presence of conservative pundits like David Horowitz (or Paglia or Vincent) in our editorial mix. How can we showcase a writer with such ardent conservative ideas in what is, in most respects, an equally ardent liberal publication? Our answer is that Salon publishes a range of voices precisely because we are liberal. Liberalism is a social philosophy, not a theology, and at its heart is a tolerance and respect for dissenting opinions. Only the divine are infallible in their judgment. For the rest of us, it's healthy to be exposed to a range of views before coming to our own.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm....
This is how stupid the people in America have become: THEY THINK THE GOVERNEMENT GAVE THEM THE REFUND MONEY.
HELLO, idiots....Its YOUR money, you gave an interest free loan to the government of money YOU earned. That's right: YOU EARNED THE MONEY the government didn't "give" you anything.
UGH.
Any socialist, who is very likely a highly educated person who darn well KNOWS the government NEEDS this money, who does not tear up his refund check is far greedier than your average stupid joe (say, a FreeRepublic reader) who has no social understanding whatsoever and just grabs the money as though it is his. Frankly, such self-centered behavior on the part of our betters sets a terrible example for the rest of us and thoroughly disgusts me.
So, instead we bought some beer. Which it turns out, is a much better investment than Salon.
How do you define "Premium subscription" in the context of Salon?
This is like an old joke: first prize: a free subscription to Salon. Second prize: a Premium subscription that you have to pay for!
