Social Security taxes eyed for cuts

Leading Senate Democrats and Republicans yesterday pressed for further tax cuts to stimulate the slumping economy and suggested reductions in the Social Security payroll tax as one such option.

In talk show appearances yesterday, Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad, North Dakota Democrat, and Sen. John Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat, both identified a payroll-tax cut as a way to put money into people's pockets quickly, and they said the option needs to be examined.

What I would like to see is a law passed that one can only be taxed on their own money once and not time after time. We have already been taxed on any social security and capital gaines money we recieve.

I will certainly go along with placing congress under social security and doing away with their splendid retirement system they conveniently set up for themselves, without a vote from the people. If you want to see the social security system running like a well oiled machine, then put congress under the SS system.
