NASCAR gave $15,000 to GOP day after Earnhardt photos sealed

TALLAHASSEE NASCAR gave $15,000 to the state Republican Party the day after a judge ruled to keep racing legend Dale Earnhardt's autopsy photos sealed.
Campaign records show the GOP reported the check on June 14, though a NASCAR official said Friday the donation came in conjunction with a June 9 fundraiser in Orlando featuring Vice President Dick Cheney, Gannett News Service reported Sunday.
NASCAR and GOP officials denied any connection between the state political gift and the Legislature's swift passage of a bill blocking public access to autopsy photos.
"We make contributions from time to time," said NASCAR spokesman John Griffin. "This is not the first time we've done it."
Griffin said NASCAR officials also gave to the state Democratic Party this summer, but Democratic officials said they were unaware of such a contribution, Gannett reported.
"It certainly looks as though NASCAR is paying off the governor and the Republican party for supporting their position in the case," said Tom Julin, the lawyer who unsuccessfully fought to open Earnhardt's crash photos for inspection.
The law was adopted in March after the death of NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt during this the Daytona 500.
The Orlando Sentinel and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel are seeking to have the law declared unconstitutional.
Earnhardt's widow, Teresa, pushed for the law, saying a public viewing of the photos would violate her family's right to privacy.
State Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Chumuckla, was an outspoken co- sponsor of the House bill. Lawmakers pushed the bill through in less than three weeks.
State campaign finance records show only one other NASCAR contribution in Florida in five years a $1,000 check to Democrats in 1997. But NASCAR officials said the $15,000 is not unusual for the sports league.
GOP spokesman Daryl Duwe said the contribution was simply a donation for "good government."
"We welcome the support of everyone who has that interest in mind," Duwe said.
did NASCAR pay off the judge?.. that would be a real story.
Besides .. I don't know if anyone remembers a few years back when Clinton showed up to tell the men to start their engines ..
Ain't nothing like hearing 60+ thousands fans boo Clinton off the stage ... did my heart good
So what??? Why not LOOK IT UP, rather than report this, which casts doubt on the Nascar side of the story! This is pathetic journalism.
Actually ... sounds to me like the Dems may be playing with their books again ...
So what? If they had given it to them the beforethe photos were sealed, would that too be just as "newsworthy?"
BTW, why were the photos sealed?
No this is beyond pathetic. This is DANGEROUS journalism. Why? Becuase 90% of the time if the AP or Reuters does not confirm it first it is considered not to be a legit report. The fact that they did this report makes me now look even deeper into the new way they are going to try and smear the GOP. They can't do it in obvious fashion anymore because people will freak out and take notice (thank you FoxNews), but AP has lost a ton of credibility with me. But I will still post their stories on here to show just how one sided they can be. Look at my posting history lately and you will see where they are at.
This is where the problem is, for the past 40 years, the democrats have been building a voter base that consist of poor people who they keep in poverty by handing out entitlement programs, and they have the socialist Hollywood Elite who can not compare to capitalist thinking big business CEO's and owners who don't believe in creating a society of dependants of Government Hand-outs.
Enter Bill Clinton, He was able to fund the DNC with huge illegal donations from the Chinese in exchange for nuclear guidence technoligy and the weapons themselves. Now that the RATS are reluctant to accept these types of donations anymore, they are like a cornered dog and their only choice is to use the Socialist liberal media to attack any and all conservatives any way they can because they can't raise the kind of money the republicans can, I think the ratio this year is 20 to 1. LOOK for all kinds of back biting from now on.

Who controls what?
Have you ever seen so many articles on immigration coming from the Liberal news outlets?. That is because they know this is a touchy issue in the republican party and can divide the far right from the moderates. We have heard these RAGS mention amnesty 20,000 times, nowhere can anyone quote the president saying he supported amnesty, in fact he has said he does not support amnesty, and just this weekend the white house said they would never allow illegals to jump ahead of those who were following existing laws, but the BS continues. Bush has a tough fight ahead of him.
I just hope all of us conservatives wake up and realize that things will not change over night, and on almost every important issue, especially the U.N. issue's, Bush has represented us well, if he was to come out on Jan 20th 2001 trying to change things over-night, none of his agenda would of got passed, we need to gently get the moderates on the left to realize the dangers of supporting these left wing RATS.
Secret photos....late night NASCAR cover ups....conjecture....sealed autopsy photos....
Next thing we know the Weekly World will be claiming Earnhardt is alive and secretly creating crop circles.

Ooohhh...I never thought of that.
The Dems are TRAINING reporters?
But, alas, I don't think most of them don't need training.....they come out of the womb like that.
