"Will the media even bother reporting the existence of this subpoena and the fact that it orders Ashcroft to turn over the evidence on Clinton and his criminal gang."

You can bet Ted Turner and Rupert Murdoch will cover this up and/or spin it.

...when they can least afford to have it come out, blam there it is.

Historically, it's been more like ''blam, there it isn't.''

thus setting the precidence for the same favor being returned in each succeeding administration

And with that my friend you hit the nail right on the head!

The evidence almost came out on Bush I, and he had to pardon practically the entire Cabinet on Christmas Day just before he left office so that the [Iran/Contra] evidence would be buried forever. Bush II wants no messy scene like that at the end of their tenure.
It's every FReepers wet dream to have Clinton and his cohorts hunted down and dragged before the firing squad but it's time you all got over that fantasy - it ain't gonna happen. Bush II knows this and doesn't want to set a dangerous precedent by giving a nutcase like Burton any ammunition.
Remember when Clinton signed the Bill reauthorizing the Special Prosecutor Law (despite having been advised against it)? Bet he wishes now that he had followed the advice he was given and let the law expire. You can bet Bush II ain't gonna do anything that stupid that could come back to bite him.

Assuming all or the majority of that is true, does honesty and justice prevail? Should those taxpayers that want to see what they paid for be refused? The Point and principle question is, has honesty and justice prevailed?

Thanks for the heads up. AG Ashcroft will of course follow the law. Think carefully about what the liberal press (and DC courts) will do with the documents. They are still trashing the USSC for the election 2000 decision and are clearly uninterested in investigating the Dems. for massive vote fraud. Think about how they've re-written history and legislated from the bench. I understand and agree with the caution behind this decision. AG Ashcroft will follow the law.

I wonder about this... is Bush going to protest and force congressional oversight committees to actually revisit the job they SHOULD have done regarding Clintong, or is the "conspiracy" view of Bush/Clintong, in fact reality?

I don't want to believe, but it is curious indeed... If ashcroft gives in after a few or months of delay, and then sends strategically redacted information that raises NEW questions, it would be a ploy for exposing Clinton, I THINK.

If they stonewall indefinitely, the fix has almost GOT to be in... why would Ashcroft cover up the China connections, unless his buddies in the Senate were implicated, or our national security was REALLY at stake.

I just don't KNOW? Will everything unfold in its own time? Or are we up against an immovable conspiracy?

Will everything unfold in its own time?

No way. The political mafia protect their own regardless of party affiliation.

These aren't just papers and reports, these are criminal investigations and the Justice department is not permitted to hid them from the Congress.

Do you want Clinton protected by the evidence being withheld from Congress?

Yes Burton and the Committee and Congress respectively is also commanding Ashcroft to turn over evidence, etc., of why the FBI allow an paid informant Flemmi--a mobster to murder ten while he was under their supervision and on their payroll!
