WEST HAVEN - Happy memories of the old Savin Rock Amusement Park are pouring back to the New Haven area for this weekend's opening of a museum dedicated to the seaside playground.
The Savin Rock Museum, opening to the public today, includes a local history center, exhibits on the park and some of the original attractions, including a carousel horse from the park's antique merry-go-round.
"I hope they see Savin Rock when they open the front doors," said Beth Sabo, who oversees the museum. "I hope it brings back a flood of memories."

Curious thought ... the Hartford Courant, the state's largest newspaper, uses an AP story to commemorate this event. Certainly they could have outsourced a freelancer, hmmm?

"Remembering Jimmy's" Savin Rock, one of my teenage years favorite places to go along with great pizza places in adjoining New Haven. I hope that this museum documents what killed Savin Rock....Naaaa...won't happen.
