I have been lurking FR for 3 or 4 years now and found it to be an intellectual "safe-harbour" for the views that I also hold. I found great solace during the clinton years and especially during the last election. Here in Kansas City, it can be very discouraging to have to listen to all the opposing viewpoints and think you all alone. The existance of FR reminds me that I'm not alone out here. My job is in an agency within the Dept.of Defence and the things i have seen/heard gave me the reason to "do something". Eventually, I could lurk no more and had to sign-up ! THANKS, to all the "long-time" members for keeping a good thing going.

God Bless Jim Robinson, and all those that make FreeRepublic a place our patriot fathers would have loved to see in their day!

When you do something, you "sure do it right". My wonderful NRA member wife turned me on to FR by always being ahead of me on the news so I lurked for a couple of years, then signed on and have never regretted it. The only problem I have with FR is that it is additive. I run errands, work in the yard, etc and HAVE TO come in and check out the latest articles for a few minutes (which always turns out to be hours). I support FR with a small monthly and several "one timers" during the FR fund raisers. I thank God and JimRob and all of those who work to keep us up and running. BTW, glad to see your post.Sorry to be so late on this reply but I've been out for a while.

FReeping bump
One stop shopping for news
Many talented, intelligent, creative people generously willing to share their knowledge
Also amazing what a like-minded group of people can organize and
accomplish without ever seeing one another!
Thanks JimRob

Yup.
I found some kindred spirits, some very nice &n highly knowledgable people (of course, SOME of the "knowledge" which any one of us thinks is real or even certain, is illusory, or, worse, a hoax), and a few fun nut cases & healthy argumentation with persons who, nevertheless, generally have the same or similar political-economic, historical, & social values, perspectives & goals.
I've spent many hours many weeks in the FR community, especially around the Election.
