One Palestinian killed, another injured, in Gaza Strip explosion
By Ha'aretz Service and Reuters
A Palestinian security officer was killed and another Palestinian was seriously injured in an explosion early Saturday morning at an abandoned building in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, Israel Radio reported. According to the report, the two were known members of the Tanzim paramilitary and the blast was probably caused by an accident as they were preparing a bomb.
A Palestinian gunman, who declined to identify himself, accused "Israeli collaborators" of planting a bomb in the building.
But Palestinian sources in Rafah, where the explosion happened, said they suspected it was "a work accident", a euphemism for bombs exploding prematurely while they are being made or stored.
Clashes in Gaza Strip A number of clashes took place in the Gaza Strip on Friday. Palestinians threw dozens of grenades at an IDF outpost on the Israel-Egypt border next to Rafah. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, three Palestinians were injured. In the area of Karni-Netzarim, two Palestinians were injured in clashes with the IDF. The IDF demolished a factory in the area from which Palestinians were shooting.
Thousands gather at funerals of Fatah members killed by helicopter strike Thousands of Palestinians clamored for revenge Friday as the funerals took place for two gunmen killed in an IAF helicopter the previous day. The funeral procession in the West Bank town of Tul Karm was led by Raed Karmi, head of the military wing of the Tanzim in the Tul Karm area. Karmi was the intended target of the missile attack and was in the vehicle at the time of the strike, but was only wounded.
"The message is very clear to... all the Israeli leaders: We will continue our armed struggle," said Karmi, who stands accused by Israel of having killed six Israelis in shooting ambushes this year.
Shaking their fists in the air, women in the crowd chanted slogans against Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. "Sharon, just wait, Raed Karmi will dig your grave," they called.
The two Palestinians were killed Thursday when IAF helicopter gunships fired three missiles at a jeep in Tul Karm, Palestinian hospital and security sources said.
Palestinian hospital officials said that Mustafa Onbas, 19, and Omar Subuh, 21, both low-level members of Arafat's Fatah faction, were killed in the helicopter strike on a Nissan jeep at the entrance to Tul Karm.
The IDF said that Karmi has been involved in many shooting ambushes and that he has killed six Israelis during the past 11 months. Among his victims were two Tel Aviv restaurant owners who visited Tul Karm, where they were seized by Karmi and his men and shot dead in the street of the town.
Karmi was identified by Palestinians as the local commander of the Al Aqsa Brigades - a militia comprised mainly of members of Arafat's Fatah faction.
Israel has tracked and killed several dozen Palestinian militants since the start of the intifada 11 months ago. The government has referred to this policy as one of "targeted killings" and has argued that it is an essential element in Israel's battle against terror.
Does Allah reward clumsiness?
I guess these palies now have blew eyes - i.e., one blew left, and the other blew right.
Or "Are you sure you connect the red wire there?"
Of course this is a lie but even if true, tough luck. If you live with the Intifada you will die with the Intifada.
