Federal agent held after police standoff

By Dana Bartholomew
Staff Writer

WOODLAND HILLS - A federal cop who had threatened to kill himself after a domestic violence assault charge surrendered to police Thursday, with his pet macaw, after a one-hour standoff at his home, police said.

Jeffrey McCredie, 41, a civil rights investigator with the U.S Department of Justice, was taken into custody by Los Angeles Police SWAT agents who had cordoned off his home in the 5700 block of Larryan Drive.

"Apparently, we have a federal officer who is suicidal, he's very drunk," said Los Angeles police Sgt. A. Sorkness. "We talked him down and he came out with his parrot."

McCredie had been arrested the night before on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon involving a shotgun during a domestic dispute with his wife, Sorkness said. He had freed himself on bail.

During a search of McCredie's home Wednesday, police confiscated all of the investigator's guns -- except one secreted in his fireplace, Sorkness said.

When they returned to the home Thursday, McCredie had used that gun during his standoff with police.

He was now being held for 72 hours of mental observation.

"Thank God that it wasn't anything worse," said Kim Lee, a neighbor, as the standoff came to an end in her neighborhood. "Thank God for all the police."

Why does this puke get to live?

A lowly citizen would have been executed and cremated 'in situ' by now.

We note that you are apparently saddened that the police hadn't killed him.

nope... cultural jihad has developed a multiple personality disorder.... or he thinks he is the pope or something... relgious leaders often speak of themselves in plural.. WE (meaning God and I) sincerely think thus and so... POLITICAL leaders speak of themselves in singular detached form... "bob dole does not do that cause bob dole does not believe in it.." or something like that...

speaking of one's self as a multiple person, is soo cool.... hee hee... don't ya think? Or should we just order up some more thorazine for him?

"Apparently, we have a federal officer who is suicidal, he's very drunk,"

Another damn druggie. Time for America to be consistant, and prohibit alcohol. Anyone who drinks it drinks to get a buzz, and look what it does. Federal stats show over 100,000 deaths per YEAR directly accountable to this menace, far more than all illegal drugs combined. Prohibition--WE CAN MAKE IT WORK if we do it again. LETS OUTLAW BOOZE if nothing else, for the children.

BS, the last prohibition caused a great deal more trouble than it was worth, YES,, I drink, no, not to get a buzz. Besides, booze, like drugs, is simply to profitable for our government to outlaw, I mean, How else would they fund the Ops. they don't want public.
