Replay of live event from earlier tonight will be at 10:35 EST this evening. I just caught the last few minutes of the live broadcast, featured Tom Brokaw reading from The Greatest Generation.

Brokaw did babble on about a singularly unremarkable woman who lost her husband during WWII and remarried. Some people made no sense at all.....guess I am just not erudite enough!!!

I think the point was more toward her deceased husband's buddies spending years to try and find her.

I've read Brokaw's book, it is pretty good. The gratutious slaps at some Republicans in the book's forward are off putting, but once Brokaw starts telling the stories, the book really takes off. And this is from someone who cannot stand Brokaw (me.) I did enjoy watching the Book Festival dinner/gala/whatever it was last night. I love to read and really wish I could be there at the Book Festival.
They interviewed Nathaniel Philbrick on C-Span II today, and he said that Laura Bush has hit a home run with this book festival. She made it children and family oriented. C-Span also said that they had to close the doors of the building where David McCullough (John Adams) was speaking because the crowd who wanted to hear him was huge.
