Flame wars get started, and after a while you learn who does that most often. We have a good history file. After a while, we write and ask for a change in habits. Raising the level of civility here is a reasonable goal, but not one we have been, or will be zealous about. A prod here and there, more than a stick, might help. All of us sweat the overbearing thing, and don't like it, particulary myself.

Jim Robinson’s typical 16 hour day protected FReepers from the influence of such disruptors prior to his trip, so if moderators were to fill in - they needed new abilities. It's good that Jim gets to step outside and smell the ozone-filtered air once in awhile. That is good! Thanks.
