I read this book when it came out...an amazing story of tragedy and heroism. There were such contrasts between the performance of the two battalions involved. The 1st Bn, having trained together as a unit, performed well under extreme pressure. The 2d Bn, having alot of new faces in country, got a shelacking...says alot for unit cohesion...I don't go to many movies, but I will go see this one...thanks for the ping!
