In a Previous Thread I posted the following:

Several questions for those in favor of reparations. I really am interested in your thoughts. FReepmail me if necessary to keep your opinions private.

1. How do you set the value of reparations? In 1865 dollars? In 2001 dollars?

2. Do you prorate the amount amongst the descendants so that each descendant gets an equal share of the bounty? Would black people of Africam or West Indian ancestry (whole or part) arriving after 1865 get a full share or would they have to contact the British, French, and Spanish governments for the rest of their 'share'? There would have to be some serious geneological studies done here to determine who gets what. Is there proof for descent? These questions alone would probably comsume the entire amount of the reparations. I don't even want to think about the legal fees.

3. Who should pay the reparations? All white people? IWhat about people whose ancestors arrived in this country after the end of the 'Civil War'? Do they pay the same or less? I can just see the authorities trying to get money from some Orthodox Jew, all of whose ancesors were in eastern europe or Russia at the time. This would entail more geneological 'proof' to see who pays what.

4. What about people with ancestors on both sides of the 'Civil War'? In my case, one parent's ancestors owned slaves and fought for the confederacy. The other parent's ancestors fought for the Union. Would I pay all of my 'share'? Half? None? I can prove my geneology, but others would not be so lucky. If the threat of reparations ever became more than an academic question, you would be surprised how fast my records would suffer an accidental 'loss'.

5. Assuming that I and/or my children would be responsible for some dollar amount, how and by what authority would the 'authorities' collect? Take my house? Make my family homeless? The mortgage company might have something to say about that, I certainly will. Thank GOD for the second amendment.

6. Should we subtract previous welfare payments already extorted under threat of imprisonment? Who gets credit for having made payments and debited for receipts?

7. We haven't even touched the moral question of requiring an individual to pay for a 'crime' they had no part in and happened before they were born.

I hope the above questions will demonstrate the futility and fascetiousness(sp?) of the whole reparations 'debate'. This is not a call for REAL reparations, it is a political club to beat people with. It is an ambulence chaser's dream of riches that they and the recipients did not have to work for, a la the Tobacco suits and settlement.

No chance in hell. He's just rabble-rousing, he needs to get his name in the papers again. No way this'll ever pass.

You ever hear of self-responsibility?? I guess not as your comments suggest a vast right-wing conspiracy. Say hello to Hitlery for me.

Self-responsibility is an idea that is carefully kept out of public school indictrination. Sure they are responsible for their conditions, but in raising children they can be made to go bad. This is what the factors I mentioned do to black children.

By the way, all the things I mentioned are left-wing factors, not right-wing. And I do believe that many left-wing factors do act to raise children into bad adults. You can't know self-responsibility if its existence has been hidden from you.

Once again, bloody shirt Jackson is playing opposition politics with race as his theme (same song, different chorus). I can hardly think of anything more divisive, and Lefties are trying to take this mainstream. The whole premise and all of these actions are thoroughly corrupt and dishonest.

The Federal, State and local governments should never touch anything having to do with reparations in any way. Not their business. Let Jackson & Co. go blue in the face soiling their shorts. The only thing to worry about is the hate that they're spreading.

I think the BEST way for all us white folks to repent is to retreat from public life for 3 days. Let us all stay secluded in our homes for 3 full days, then come out and declare ourselves FORGIVEN. That should at the VERY LEAST satisfy The REV. Jackson.

Nope. The only blood I'm talking is what Jackson is spreading on his own shirt.

I was certain this idea came from the Black Marxist fringe

I have just recently come to a similar understanding. The reparations/colonialism/racism movements are in the process of becoming the Marxist's new trojan horse for implementing socialism in the U.S. and in the West. Don't look for this movement to go away, but to only get stronger.

In the same way that the Marxist created the environmental movement to assert their control over democratic countries, they have found an even better movement to accomplish the job. You will see this to be true when the reparations movement starts to coalesce around demands for government programs to redress the past wrongs of slavery, colonialism and racism.

I prayed on this issue last night. G-d wants everyone to know, he has dealt with the slave masters in his own way, and Jackson should go and sin no more.

Even the Dems know that this won't happen (unless they come up with an insanely creative way of packaging it so that the rich are hit with the bill). They know they can't get elected without the participation and support (not to mention money) of white America. As a result, they wouldn't dare bring it up even for serious discussion and (I'm sure) are dreading the idea that the Black Caucus membership might eventually force it. This topic is absolute poison for the Democratic party.

So I say: bring it on! Show your true colors, RATS!

Jesse Jackson has just declared war for the hard earned assetts of white American's who got them the old fashioned way-work, sacrifice and careful budgeting. A war to reward people who have never been slaves by extorting from people who never owned a slave.

What Jesse seeks to do here, is to legalize on a grand national scale, the very same thing black street thugs do illegally when they mug, rob, steal and kick down peoples doors and help themselves to what they want. He may browbeat a self serving and wimpy congress into doing his bidding, but legal or not his actions have reduced his honor to the same level as those street thugs-non-existant.

I can't speak for everyone else but I feel I owe blacks no apology for slavery, and I sure as hell don't owe them any money. There is not a lot I can do about it if the sickening garbage in our government that makes such idiotic decisions, kisses Jesse's hinie as they usually do. I will despise the decision though and those who make it as well and will dedicate the rest of my life to removing these warts from the face of our government.

The slime will probable use the voice vote and hide behind anonominity, as cowards always do. In which case we should just work at removing them all.

Oops. When I saw the headline I thought it meant that Jackson was going to repair all the damage he's done to those around him with his profligate lifestyle.

Shoulda known better, though, huh.

To be more accurate, I don't think that Africans sold "their own people" into slavery--not unless you want to swallow the malarky that black "leaders" in this country have been putting out, that Africa has ever been "united."

No, certain African tribes sold captives from OTHER TRIBES into slavery.

I am assuming that if the reparations legislation becomes law, it will be underwritten by tax dollars in the US Trasury. So, the question remains. Will the tax dollars from black America taxpayers be part of the sum total of the reparations?

Ya know, when Al Capone used to threaten people if they didn't pay "protection" money, it was called Extortion.

Just once, I wish one of these companies that Jackson targets would file Extortion charges against Jackson and his organization. Maybe even under the RICO statutes. Even if it wasn't successful, it would cause the Media to compare Jackson's actions with the definination of "Extortion". My guess is that there's not a red-hairs' difference!

Mine is the racist communist Sheila Jackson Lee

... That worthless piece of ignorance is my rep. too. What a freakin' embarrassment! BTW, I think she STILL believes we sent men to Mars! Sheila is the reason that the phrase "Dumber than a sack of hammers" was originally coined.

Is it just me, or does anyone believe that "thing" Sheila Sherman-Grant wears on top of her head is really a cowpie?

Grim, how on earth did you people let this activists gain her place in government the first time? She has no interest in the American people or the people of Texas if they are not black! She is part of the Democratic Socialist of America and therefore she LIED when she took her oath of office...she should not be re-elected. Texans must work hard to un-seat the woman who also failed to uphold her oath to protect the United States Constitution by voting not to impeach the pharisaic and mendacious Bill Clinton. You can probably thank Hillary Clinton for holding these people in line...her line!

The Democratic Socialists of America can be in that party all they want, but they should not be allowed to serve two Constitutions, they won't and they can't. They are not electable by law! They do not believe the U.S. Constitution, they bend it and the rule of law to suit them. Throw 'em out of office!
