This bishop reminds me of a priest whose Mass we attended last week. After Communion, he came to the altar rail and announced, "I am ashamed and embarrassed by those who came to receive Communion wearing shorts and tank tops. Don't you have any respect for your Lord?"

Very interesting...Myers in Newark, Murphy in Long Island, Egan in New York. I see a positive pattern developing around here. You mentioned on another thread that when Egan was appointed Archbishop of NY that news articles said he was conservative. I have only heard of one "wave" that Egan has made since he came to NY. As Archbishop of NY, he essentially has the bully pulpit and I haven't seen him use it like O'Connor used to. Perhaps with moral support from the surrounding bishops, he will become more vocal. Murphy sounds like a very good addition to the area.
