Texas, it's gonna take alot longer than one administration to turn things around. I think the point is, no one's even started turning -- this boat is still steaming full-ahead toward the wrong shore.

Yes and it is going to take a national population that does NOT elect a Republican by 527 votes. You simply cannot ignore the fact that this country is evenly split 3 ways, Conservatives, moderates and liberals. Until that ratio shifts, you are going to get what we have today for as far as the eye can see. A president has only as much power as the populace grants him.

You got it exactly backwards (IMO) -- you don't wait for the country to agree with you, you do what Reagan did, you get out there and LEAD them. Bush and the current crop of appeasers use this "the country's not for us" mantra as an excuse not to lead. Ronald Reagan didn't wait for the poll numbers -- he got out there and made his case.

Bush, again in my opinion, hides behind the excuse that the country is not pro-life enough. Baloney. This country is made up of half-witted, TV-besotted fools who will follow whatever is sold to them (e.g., the success of Clinton). Instead of waiting for public opinion, he needs to get out there and sell the message, and do the right thing. Bush has no intention of being a conservative -- indeed, he doesn't even know what one is.

The sooner we conservatives recognize this, the sooner we can start turning that ship around.
