In case you don't know what the word means I think its an old ethnic term for "behind". It must be since he was referring to needing a kick on it. I felt very sad and wince everytime he lisps. Because of the awful problem I think it is the height of poor judgement to place a person who appears so feminine in the priesthood at this time. It is also a terrible thing to do to the majority of priests who have to bear the stigma of being identified as a priest with the publicity the ever increasing lawsuits bring to them and the Church. To say nothing of the parishioners who have to foot the bills for damages or increased insurance expenses.
And to the man named Sinkspur, don't start in about the married priests, studies show you are probably wrong but in any case the Church cannot loosen one more thing at this time,it must clean up and regain its integrity in order to go forward with the mission entrusted to it by Christ. We need to listen more closely to the Holy Father and the Magisterium and give as much allegience and respect and obedience to our Bishops as they give to the Holy Father.
May God bless Bishop Meyers and his new diocese, many of us in this large western diocese had hoped our Bishop would resign and we would get one like him. Oh well.
What "studies?" There are no "studies" on married Catholic priests because there are so few of them. Every poll taken indicates that American Catholics would welcome married priests, just as they welcome married deacons.
As far as "loosening," is concerned, you wouldn't have to cringe at your "lisping" young priest if you had a wider selection of men to call to the priesthood.
