Ah, Nyquist, the man who believes that we must have an everlasting external enemy so that he might be able to smash the heads of internal enemies without having to worry about messy little details like "due process" or "presumed innocent until proven guilty."

Many of the Chechins she interviewed felt the war was a Kremlin puppet show. "I'm ashamed for Western Europe, where you live in a world of lies," an elderly Chechin told Navat. "We are all victims, manipulated by the politicians in Moscow."

And all the kidnap victems were also Moscow puppets too, right? And Moscow wanted the KLA created and Yugoslavia disolved and Serbia bombed and the NASDAQ to have a correction and the Asian flew and Sunny Bono to bounce into a tree and for all the car crashes and for the colds and migraines and all other things bad in the world..........I'm sure you missed my point.

Interesting read. The author states the obvious, calls it a sinister plan, and provides nothing in the way of solutions. Grade: Incomplete.

History has clearly shown that the greatest danger to every people is THEIR OWN government.

The greatest threat to Germans was the German Nazis; the greatest threat to Russians were the Russian Communists; and the greatest threat to Americans are American Socialists, whether in 'Democratic' or 'Republican' clothing.

All socialism is national socialism.

Based on his KGB knowledge, Anatoliy Golitsyn predicted the 'fall' of communism before it happened. That fact in and of itself should give one pause. I just know a few things about communists, and rule number one is that you can trust them; (to be communists.) </font size> Most of them don't give up their wacked-out ideology very easily, and the ones who subject themselves to Party discipline will stop at nothing to get their way. The people I know from Eastern Europe all tell me that a lot of the old die-hard communists are still in charge, and they are still communists, just with new and improved political labels.

Cordially,

Do you really think that an enemy of more than four
decades simply ran up the white flag because he couldn't "pay the bills"?

Couldn't match Star Wars and eat.

My biggest worry is the contingent
of American loons intent on hating
the USSR back into existence.

Nyquist has written a good essay. He is right about the subversion of freedom in America even if he is off-base about the communist conspiracy. The United States is moving left at warp speed. By "left" I mean away from traditional conservative cultural values, political policies, and education; and toward an atheistic, relativistic, and highly socialistic culture and government. What are the implications? One is the death of truth - truth cannot exist in an atheistic society; whoever is in power dictates what the truth will be. When truth dies, the nation dies with it. Where is there to run? Look around - all the nations on earth are either socialist states, brutal dictatorships, oppressive theocracies, or are in destitute chaos. Americans had better take their eyes off of their hedonistic ignorant lifestyles, and place them directly on preserving their freedoms or their freedom will continue to dissipate. Wake up Oh Sleeper!

Let me suggest that you have never been in Eastern Europe or Russia. Otherwise you would be ashamed of yourself for posiong this drivel. Russia is in deep disarray and the Kremlin would be happy if it could figure out how to feed the Russian population through the next winter.

The Russian industry is bankrupt, as is the Russian government, and suggesting that these guys are capable of pulling of a grand conspiracy is ridiculous. What is your agenda?

"War to the hilt between communism and capitalism is inevitable. Today, of course, we are not strong enough to attack. Our time will come in thirty or forty years. To win, we shall need the element of surprise. The Western world will need to be put to sleep. So we shall begin by launching the most spectacular peace movement on record. There shall be electrifying overtures and unheard of concessions. The capitalist countries, stupid and decadent, will rejoice to cooperate to their own destruction. They will leap at another chance to be friends. As soon as their guard is down, we shall smash them with our clenched fist."
Dmitri Z. Manuilski, Lenin School of Political Warfare in Moscow, 1931

I've got an open mind, but this one is a bit of a stretch. The money-force of the New World Order suggests the re-birth of an enhanced version of Nazism, but the leftist angle defies me as being anything but a nostalgia movement.

However, having said that, what would you offer as convincing evidence of the leftist angle? The left is not generally thought of in terms of monetary greed.

Consider the Czech Republic as an example. Having entered NATO, it is yet controlled by the old communists who are waiting for a signal from Moscow. That's all it will take for them to reverse the changes that have taken place since 1989.

I am not sure how to parse this sentence. If he means that NATO had something to do with the country sliding left then he is more right than if he is using NATO as an insignia of American Interests. The Czechs had the closest thing in Europe to a libertarian government under Vaclav Klaus, and their economy was the fastest growing (except for Slovakia's -- but nobody wanted to count them). That was until Mad Albright came to town and convinced the president and parliament that they would have to raise taxes in order to have a chance at joining the International Community. She told them that they would have to double their defense spending.

I don't know who this Mrs. Catalan is, but she hasn't said anything earth-shattering here.

After checking, it appears that this "important essay" of Mrs. Catalan is about Lunev (or taken from Lunev).
