Matt is very conservative - and to my liking. He was one of the few who actually kept his pledge to limit his terms in congress to a total of three two-year terms, even though he was in a very "safe" Republican district. Most of the others who had made the same pledge created excuses to ignore their commitments when the time actually came.
He never "sold out" in Congress - and at times found himself ostracized by Newt when Newt was trying to be "moderate."
Go Matt!
The leading democratic candidate (although there is more than a year to go) is a liberal - allegedly (and never denied to be) a lesbian who is the state's Attorney General.
let's not make her sexuality an issue. we've seen what is happening in the Tempe recall election when even a few supporters bring it up. the press will beat the homophobia issue like a drum and turn off the mushy middle soccer-moms. Napolitareno must not win in 2002. Matt is clearly the best candidate to beat her.
