Phoenix police are searching for a man suspected of snatching a 10-year-old girl while she was walking on her school grounds Tuesday morning.

Police believe the man attacked the child at Solano School, at 15th and Missouri avenues, about 10 a.m. He dragged her to a car parked in the west parking lot and took her to an apartment complex about a mile and a half away, said Detective Tony Morales, a police spokesman.

The girl was forced inside the apartment for an hour-and-a-half to two hours, but escaped when the man became distracted, Morales said. The girl was able to call her mother for help, and police launched the investigation.

The man is described as a White or light-skinned Hispanic male, 20 to 25, 5 foot 10, 180 pounds with short spike hair with blond tips. He has blue eyes and freckles and walks with a noticeable limp, Morales said.

Morales said he was driving a white Nissan Maxima with tan interior.

The girl was not injured.

Anybody with information is urged to call the crimes against children unit at (602) 534-3200.

Scary that that can happen without anyone seeing or being able to do anything about it.

That does seem awfully strange, that there were no witnesses, or at least it seems to imply that.

That's the paper's style.
If this slob has any buddies, they don't want the witnesses to be in a bullseye.
Meanwhile, there are rumors that legal CCW permit holders, and others that care about kids, are just a bit alert on the way to do errands tonight. Just a bit.
Just going to the market honey, be right back. Honest honey.

Well, Tex, thanks for the link, but it is word for word identical to what I have already seen, so I am still in the dark, but:

If this slob has any buddies, they don't want the witnesses to be in a bullseye.

This also makes sense, Kirk. Thanks.

And that area, just south of Cris Town Mall, is a pretty nice neighborhood...at least it was when I was there...

I do hope the child can give a good description of the animal.

We had a guy in this area who was trying to snatch kids. he finally succeeded with a young girl playing near a bridge a block from her home. He took her out in the country, raped her, then swathed her in duct tape (over her eyes, mouth, around her hands and feet), covered her with leaves and left her for dead.

The girl managed to get free and run to a house nearby. She was able to give a detailed description of her rapist--and his car. When the guy's wife spotted the picture, she said, "it looks a lot like you," and then questioned him about his whereabouts. He took off, but was found a few days later. He was a prison guard with his home computer filled with child porn.

When the DNA came back with a match, he committed suicide a day or two later.

It's no great loss.

10? 10 years old? What a sick man. This new liberal freedom of sexual expression stuff is getting more horrable by the day.
Thank God the girl is alright.

But it legitimizes it. It is a TRUE story.

What exactly was a 10-year old girl doing outside of class, unsupervised, walking around the school grounds at 10 AM on a school morning? Is this truly a stranger abduction, or is there some family/divorce/cohabitation issue going on?

Recess. I am sad to say it is easier than you think. Teacher can be very lax at recess.

In many troubled schools, kids are allowed to walk around unhindered as long as they don't cause trouble. I used to substitute teach in one of those schools.
