I take issue with one of these, its not to get money for the police depts, it is money for the politicians at city hall, When Chief of Police I was told by the mayor 'we need more money in fines to run the city', I asked 'Oh? you mean the police depart. is a money making agency?, He got hot as heck.

Ok Where to Begin? HMMMM Alright Atown on the eastern border of the city of Syracuse,N.Y. called Dewitt has Cameras at a major intersection. Their Purpose is undisclosed , When I ask a highway employee he stated it's for redlight violators, When I asked a public official HE claims they're for catching the bad guys. Anyways these cameras are only about a mile away from Lockheed Martin,s radar faciluty I wonder if the Town of dewitt cut deal to beta test the cameras for lockheed???????

So does this ruling set a precedent? Are all tickets issued from cameras null and void?

Why does this poll require the entry of an email address to participate? I'm on enough spam lists as it is.

They'll appeal.

Why does this poll require the entry of an email address to participate? I'm on enough spam lists as it is. It's World Net Daily and they won't spam you.
They require e-mail to vote for good reason. A few months ago, they were inundated with homosexuals multiple voting on a poll. When I saw the results of the poll and weighed in the content/issue of the poll, I knew the results had been skewed by these weirdos leaping into the poll. Shortly after that, they required e-mail login to prevent multiple voting.
I understand your concern, but don't be alarmed or fear for "spamming." Thanks for letting me know. ;-)

Red-light or speed-sensor ticket surveillance systems were shot down by an Arizona high court (don't know if it was Supreme) in 1987. The decision was scathing and made without prejudice, meaning the author didn't ever want to return to the issue. Case-closed. Speed sensors and cameras for the purpose of presenting a minor arrest warrant (which is what a misdemeanor traffic ticket is) are NOT LEGAL.Perhaps, but explain then why Scottsdale is currently using them?

I have a similar beef. IMHO, for many years now, law enforcement agencies see themselves as revenue-generators. Its echoed in the speeches of other elected officials as well. How many times have you heard this: "Our city/county has lost $X over the past three years due to unpaid traffic tickets." They actually see "fines" as revenue due them, and if you dont pay, then you have stolen from them and they have lost revenue. It sickens me.

You were a REO in LEO clothing?? Naaaaaaah!?

I knew the results had been skewed by these weirdos leaping into the poll.Oh please. As if "freeping a poll" is not common practice around here.
Whether it's wierdo homo's or libertarian freepers, internet polls are always skewed. Hell, all polls are skewed.

They actually see "fines" as revenue due them,Well, they have to, don't they? Fines have to be accounted for as "assets due." If they don't materialize, then they have to account for them as a loss. Maybe if they had a loooockbooooxxxx..... Bwahhaaaa!

I wonder if the Town of dewitt cut deal Don't wonder, FOIL their records. (Freedom of information lawsuit)
