I HAVE LURKED FOR 4 YEARS ON FREEREPUBLIC. NEVER SIGNED ON. NEVER POSTED. NOTHING, NOT EVEN THE COVERAGE OF THE 2000 ELECTION HAS DISMAYED ME SO UNTIL WHAT HAS JUST OCCURRED ON THE EAST COAST FEED OF NIGHTLINE. I WOULD LOVE TO READ WHAT OTHERS THOUGHT OF WHAT I HAVE JUST WITNESSED.

Seems to me that Tom Daschle is in trouble in his home state, Looked to me that those farmers have had enough of him siding with the wacko environmentalist on issues that would help lower our dependance on foriegn oil. What is most amazing about Tom Daschle is how he acts towards big business and people of wealth, he considers them evil.
In a capitalist society you will always have winners and losers, the most important thing is to focus on promoting small business to become big business. How else will we create new jobs, certainly not from the federal programs. The bottom line is, if he don't change his tone and start thinking about what makes this country tick, instead of what scares people to vote for the democrats, he will have a hard time maintaining his illegitimate position of "majority leader"

Yep, I saw it and I agree.
It was reminicent of the puff pieces that led up to the media's coronation of WJC as the democratic candidate nine years ago.

#1 - I haven't seen Niteline - and I won't because I cannot stay up that late, but I have some info which might stir the pot a little.
Send an e-mail to listeditor@abcnews.go.com, address the e-mail to Executive Producer of Niteline - Leroy Sievers
Leroy said he wanted feedback on what Niteline was doing - how about we give him a dose of FreeRepublic.

You think this is David Gold huh?
That'd be cool.
Yo, what would we expect from the media?
I know some expect better from Koppell... was it Koppell?... but they shouldn't.

HERE'S MY MESSAGE:
To: Leroy Sievers, Executive Producer of Niteline:
Are you kidding?? A 30-minute commercial for Tom Daschle?? In the first place, I am appalled you would support this man - however, I am aware he could have paid for this "commercial", but I seriously doubt it. This kind of blatant bias is exactly why the American people will not abide by Senator McCain's Campaign Reform which would allow you to show this "commercial" while the Republicans would be prevented from running any commericals of their own.
You people still don't get it do you? Well, let me explain! When Clinton was impeached, you all screamed loudly and persistantly that the "public" did not want him removed from office. You even quoted 75% of the public did not want him removed from office. Well, you know what - some people kept track of those stats and ONE YEAR LATER - 75% SAID HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM OFFICE.
Hello? ? Are you getting the picture? The 75% who now believe Clinton should have been removed from office ARE STILL WITH US!!! If you think you will be able to foist upon us another "clinton", you are so mistaken. Not only will Daschle not be majority leader of the senate, HE WILL NO LONGER BE A SENATOR in 2002!!!

I gave up on Ted and "Nightline" after his shameful performance on the Vince Foster murder. He can't be trusted, IMO. He's not a journalist, he's an "interviewer/news reader."
