I couldn't agree with you more, Angelwood. Instead of thinking of an email from JimRob (or just from FreeRepublic if JimRob would rather not have his name attached) as spam, I think most people would take it as a compliment.

There are far too many freepers and lurkers who have no idea of our financial situation, and who must assume that running a web site such as this doesn't cost anything. They need a bit of educating on the subject. A friendly email should go a long way towards helping them "get it"! I think many of these people have no idea that they are "freeloading" on the contributions that 2% of the membership donate.

In other words, JimRob, et al--my vote is to go for it!

Hi basil! I love it when you agree with me. Seriously, though, Free Republic is totally unique and we must do all that we can to make sure that the forum continues to grow.

Free Republic was mentioned at BusinessWeek online. The url is: http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/aug2001/nf20010828_333.htm.

And I quote: "...check out the Latest Articles page at conservative/libertarian discussion site FreeRepublic.com. Visitors, who call themselves Freepers, log an average of 2 hours and 32 minutes."

WorldNetDaily is thriving with an average of 40 minutes spent by visitors on the site vs. MSNBC averaging 23 minutes or CNN.com averaging 26 minutes. This shows how addictive Free Republic is and also the fact that you can find out all the news and views of the posters on Free Republic.
