I was going to suggest that the author must have perused some FR threads, until I fixed upon the exact identity of the author. :)

Nice piece. Relative moderates/liberals that believe in market mechanisms, and are skeptical of the efficacy of many government works, are quite cross pressured these days. Just where they choose to break bread is a somewhat complex calculus, and requires a fair amount of strategic thinking. It would be even more difficult if the Democrat party ever managed to free itself from the iron grip of the NEA and trial lawyers, at least for me. Until then, I know where my really dangerous enemies lie.

For some reason, certain key words got dropped in my post, to wit: Relative moderates/liberals on social issues. I don't consider myself a "liberal," or indeed really a "moderate," as opposed to a "moderate conserative," or "neocon" to be more precise, overall.
