The Bat Yam Municipality has filed a lawsuit against the Islamic Republic of Iran, demanding more than NIS 208 million in compensation for the extensive destruction caused by an Iranian ballistic missile strike during Operation Rising Lion in June 2025.

The lawsuit, filed Sunday in the Tel Aviv District Court by the Shurat HaDin - Israel Law Center, seeks NIS 208,330,129 in damages incurred by the municipality following the deadly attack.

Bat Yam Mayor Zvika Brot and Shurat HaDin President attorney Nitsana Darshan-Leitner personally delivered the legal documents to a representative of Iran's mission to the United Nations in New York.

According to the statement of claim, Iran launched a barrage of ballistic missiles toward central Israel at approximately 2:40 a.m. on June 15, 2025.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

I don't think the lawsuit will go anywhere. We bomb you. You bomb us. That's how war is, what's the fuss.

But it's fun to watch.

It’s an unusual war without formal declarations. Maybe the mayor figures if the city doesn’t file a suit against the recognized state that attacked the city (Iran) they will have no standing for seeking damages if the regime changes…? Before, such attacks were made by terror groups.

I agree that it will probably come to nothing.

Formal declarations are the exception now. The missiles were flying both ways. Hamas was hiding its military assets in civilian areas, so for all Iran knew, so was Israel.

For that matter, Gazans could start a lawsuit against Israel, too. Hamburg could have sued Churchill, and Hiroshima could have sued Truman. The drowned refugees and crew of the Struma could have sued Russia and Turkey, and somehow gotten it back to England, whose dirty work they were doing.

War is bad enough without getting lawyers involved.

Take it to the International Court that the UN insists is in charge of humanity. Either make them work or demonstrate that they are nothing but another UN $$ skimming body.
