WASHINGTON DC: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has dismissed reports suggesting that he is considering leaving the Trump administration following the Republican Party’s setbacks in the midterm elections, insisting that completing President Donald Trump’s second term has always been his plan.
In an interview with The New York Times, Rubio rejected speculation that he might step down to prepare for a 2028 presidential campaign, clarifying his long-term professional intentions within the executive branch.
“Working for President Trump for the duration of his second term has always been my plan,” Rubio said.
“I don’t know where these things come from, to be honest with you,” he added, addressing widespread rumours regarding his possible departure.

In response to the rumours, officials from both the White House and the Department of State firmly refuted the claims.
White House spokesperson Beni Rae Harmony characterised the stories as a fabricated hoax pushed by anonymous sources, emphasising that Rubio remains a committed supporter of Trump and the MAGA movement.
Assistant Secretary of State for Global Public Affairs Dylan Johnson also called the reports completely baseless fake news.

Great! I do not know who would do a better job than Marco Rubio.
Rubio has been a total standout and leaving would be a huge loss.
The problem is he is going to be tied at the hip with Trump, and if that ship sinks, he’s going down with it.
This is completely baseless fake news from made-up anonymous "sources."
It is unsurprising that this completely fabricated hoax is being peddled by @AndrewFeinberg — who recently worked for a Russian state-owned media outlet.

I normally agree with that statement.
But the media is in the “listing Jack Meoff as reliable source” level of credibility. They have no sources in the administration that actually know anything.
I believe Rubio.

President Trump a well thought out plan to restore America and even the much maligned Iran war is eventually going to end well if President Trump is allowed to stay the course
He made a huge error with his Iran war messaging that did serious damage to the 2026 elections but if he walks away from Iran and leaves the IRGC in command he will destroy Republicans in 2028
His only choice is to stay the course, follow through and win
