New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani scored a legal victory Wednesday after a state appeals court cleared the way for his administration to move forward with a controversial tax on high-end second homes, according to The New York Times.
The Brooklyn-based appellate court reversed a September ruling by a Staten Island judge, who found that the city mishandled the tax's rollout and ordered officials to start over.
The city appealed the decision while continuing to implement the tax, also called a pied-à-terre tax.
The ruling marks a win for Mamdani's progressive agenda, which includes raising taxes on wealthy New Yorkers to help close the city's budget gap.
The tax still faces other legal challenges, and the mayor's administration is defending additional policies, including a proposed rent freeze.

Getting it good and hard.
The purpose of this is that friends of the government can get these homes for cheap.
THE ONLY REASON THEY ARE HALTING THE CARRIAGE RIDES IS BECAUSE THE STABLES ARE PRIME REAL ESTATE, NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE DANGEROUS. THOSE HORSES ARE WALKING...
How soon before he runs out of OPM?
The day after he runs out of little leftist biased judges.

“high end second homes”
At least the low end second homes are safe.

That's been the rationale of the anti-carriage horse people all along. They could care less about the horses. They want that prime real estate. Let them have it--then set it on fire while they're visiting, the vultures.
Turn the horses into a petting zoo.
A gang of judges declares that taxes that pay their salaries are legal. How predictable!
For what? Horses are expensive to keep. The fees collected from using them as a "petting zoo" wouldn't cover shoveling out their stalls, let alone their feed and vet bills.
