(The Hill) — Former MLB first baseman Mark Teixeira (R) is projected to succeed Rep. Chip Roy (R) in representing Texas’s 21st Congressional District, according to preliminary results from Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ).
Teixeira defeated Democratic opponent Kristin Hook

Roy opted not to seek reelection and instead run for Texas attorney general, but he lost the GOP primary to Texas state Sen. Mayes Middleton in the spring.
Teixeira received endorsements from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and President Donald Trump. The former professional baseball player has shown support for Trump’s deportation agenda, writing, “I stand with ICE,” on social media after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents shot and killed Minneapolis resident Renee Good in January.
The president endorsed Teixeira on Truth Social in February, writing that the Texas Republican “was ‘loaded up’ with Accolades and WINS.”
“I know Mark well, and he is a TOTAL WINNER, on and off the field! … HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” Trump added.

Some good news out of Texas.
He’ll be facing a hell of a lot more curve balls than he ever saw in the majors...
Much needed
Big time.
Fine but the football kicker in Az. got nowhere.
Will they let him play in the Congressional Baseball Game?
Sometimes I wonder what could have been if my Cubbies had drafted Teixeira instead of Mark Prior in 2001.
Everybody knew the Twins would take Joe Mauer with the #1 - cheaper and a hometown guy (and sure worked out fine for them!)
But Teixeira and Prior were neck-and-neck as the best player going into the 2001 college season. Teixeira broke his ankle early and missed most of the season and Prior had a college season for the ages. OF course, he had a great rookie year before injuries wrecked him.
But who knows...
Roy was in a large number of instances one of the most conservative members of Congress. And consistently so. Hopefully MT continues that streak and he doesn’t Bush us.
That seat going to the Bushes to just be wasted for years and seatwarmed would truly be criminal when that seat can give us someone so conservative.
Awesome news good man he will be FANTASTIC
