MINNEAPOLIS, October 29, 2026 — Salim Said, the former co-owner of Minneapolis’ Safari Restaurant, has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for his role in a child-meal fraud operation linked to more than $44 million in losses.
U.S. District Judge Nancy Brasel imposed the sentence on Wednesday, October 28. Said, 37, was also ordered to pay more than $44 million in restitution, according to local courtroom reporting.
The sentencing follows his March 2025 conviction alongside Feeding Our Future founder Aimee Bock in the broader pandemic-era fraud case involving approximately $250 million intended for child nutrition programs.
Prosecutors requested a 40-year prison term. His defense sought 12 years, arguing that his responsibility was substantially different from Bock’s and challenging the government’s description of him as an “undisputed architect” of the operation.

Astounding. This operation should have been flagged at $10,000 not at $44 million.
I guess the federal government doesn’t have any inspectors, you know, folks whose job it is to verify if claims are true.
I can’t wait to see the money returned(sarcasm)

Great so we pay to house and feed and medical care him for 30 years. How about deport by catapult. Into the nearest tall building.
