Regardless, I could see Senate Leader Thune allow a vote on on a Trump impeachment effort by the Democrat House. Yes, he’d encourage it.

Wow. This is like the eighth variant of the original CNN clip. Enten gave this a probability of 1:5. Which isn’t terrible. But this was a CNN clip like a week ago and I lost count of how many different people have glommed onto it.

Another network mused that the Dems may miss the majority and end up 50-50 with JD Vance voting to break the ties.

Well that’s a relief. I guess now I don’t have to vote.
Obviously it’s only talk. But I know people - I live here. IF they say there’s talk there really is talk. We can hope.
I never understand how Republicans can pick the absolute WORST members of their group to be their leaders. I understand how they might want to moderate their choice to try to please as many people as possible, but Thune isn’t even a moderate. He is one of the ONLY senators who wouldn’t work to push the SAVE Act through, as important as it is.
Democrats couldn’t have a better Republican friend than Thune.
No - and if you go to the actual video Enten lays out 4 scenarios.
1. Republicans sweep.
2. Republican’s keep House and lose Senate.
3. Republicans keep Senate and lose House.
4. Democrats sweep.
He then breaks down what would have to happen for each scenario to play out and what likelihood he gives each scenario.
He gives #1 like 1% likelihood.
He gives #2 like 5% likelihood.
In order for #3 to play out the polls would have to be skewed toward Democrats on the order of 4+% to play out, and then he shows that in fact that HAS been true in the battleground states for just about every election cycle the last decade plus - so it’s not crazy to believe that possibility (again - his takes not mine) - and he gives this scenario a 22% likelihood.
For #4 he says the polls are fine, it’s what we should expect, and gives it the rest of the probability of like 70%.
I don’t remember all the numbers perfectly. The clip was aired by CNN almost a week ago. So, yeah, clipping this out only makes it look like this is what Enten is predicting - and he’s not.
Now, I think there’s a good chance this actually will play out - perhaps 50:50 - but Enten gives it about 1:5.
Thune *WAS* picked my RINOs and Democrats. Every MAGA option was vetoed by the usual suspects: Cornyn, Tillis...
They’re gone - well, most of them.
I don’t guarantee we’ll get MAGA for Leader, but they are definitely rumbling about Thune’s head.
And now we here in FR believe in polls???? Whatever. Too many people only hear what they want to hear. When Trump offers to pay (bribe) every US citizen $5k if we win, Sum Ting is very Wong.
That would be a 52-48 Senate WITHOUT McConnell, Tillis, Cassidy, Cornyn and Ernst (also Graham, since his sister has no influence).
That’s a MAJOR improvement.

Steve Burguiere the old sidekick of Glenn Beck who quit the show. He used to give voter demographics and qualified poll results and internal numbers, the stuff that as a lifelong politics addict with a political science degree I eat up like a hot fudge sundae. Now he runs his online betting service on all topics.
