Trump: I call him Mohammed Abdul El-Sayed. He's a Muslim Brotherhood guy 100.
Dana: President Trump is talking about El-Sayed's family and its alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. El-Sayed is facing questions after his half sister claimed on social media that their mother was involved in the group in the 1970s. But he denies it.
[NBC's journalist Tom Llamas interviews el Sayed]
'ABC: Can you just explain it?'
El Sayed: l It's funny to me. I was born in 1984. Down the street in Rochester Hills. I was raised here in Michigan. Went to the University of Michigan. You want to ask me what's happening in Egypt in 1970? Are you serious?
ABC: You were asked a question --
El Sayed: I'm telling you, I have no ties. You're using hearsay evidence from a tweet -- it's not serious.
ABC: You have gone after the president for truthfulness. When people ask you a question, they expect the truth.
El Sayed: and you think, you think, are you. Are you insinuating that I was lying?
ABC: I don't know. That's why I'm asking you. El Sayed: And I'm yelling you I was not.'
[...] Dana: Meanwhile, after El-Sayed refused to answer whether Israel or Iran poses a greater threat to the United States, one Democrat shows how easy it is to pick a side. Check out what Mayor Pete said (to Martha MacCallum): "Iran is our enemy. Israel is not. They're an ally. So that's pretty clear to me.'
MacCallum: Why do you think that was a hard question for El-Sayed to answer the way you just did?
Mayor Pete: I'm not sure. There's no candidate and no human being that I agree with 100% of the time. I will be voting for El-Sayed over Mike Rogers.
Dana: Emily, I thought it was interesting that he says that his sister's posts on X are hearsay evidence. How is -- that's not a legal thing, is it?
Emily: No. We're not in court. Isn't he the doctor? I'm just concerned, you know, to put it mildly, over the immediate escalation that he displays every time he's asked a question. If this is a small test of what you do under pressure, what is governing? I feel like the test that is being put in front of all of the voters there in Michigan, and specifically the Democrats and the independents, is what happens when whoever you choose has to answer for all the people that didn't sign up for him? And there's sort of this, I think, reward that occurs online and in the algorithm that he's chasing. We see that he has a temper. We see there's surges and attention and following when they say these radical ridiculous things or there's conflict between him and a journalist asking questions. But that reward is not reflected in constituencies. It's not reflected when you're actually in D.C.
So I think the biggest drawback and the biggest result of this, in addition to the fissure that he represents or he would represent in Michigan if he won, is just the notion that that level of temper, that level of scoffing at real questions, it's not all about what happens in a localized neighborhood there in Michigan. He actually needs to answer for our allies. He will be voting on funding wars and funding the Taliban and things that matter. It's important that he puts our flag and our Constitution first.
But. If and when Rogers wins, then Democrats really need sort ask whether they gambled on an angry algorithm over common sense.
Dana: Harold, you're sitting there with a Go Blue mug.. And so you know Michigan well. Almost feel like the October surprise for Abdul El-Sayed is that he doesn't have an answer to this question. He knew it was coming.
Harold: Yea,.. I'm more bothered by the fact that his answer on Iran and Israel -- I come from a huge family. There's things I don't want to answer for my family may or may not do or may or may not say in politics.
Jesse: Is your family the Muslim Brotherhood?
No they're not.
Dana: See how easy that is to answer?
Harold: I never had to abswer that.
But when you can't identify Iran or Israel as which is the greater threat, is absolutely ..as I've said it many times, is a concern for me. I do hink Mr. Abdul El-Sayed has hong to have to hope that people like -- people follow it like Pete Buttigieg said. I disagree with him on that, but I vote for him.
Emily's right. I don't like when politicians bite anybody's heads off. I mean President Trump does it. This guy does it. It's a terrible look in politics when reporters are asking questions. If they repeat and repeat, if they're asking a basic question -- that was a pretty direct and basic question from an NBC reporter. He should answer it.
He's not alone in doing that. For him, the next 2 1/2 weeks -- Dana is right. If this is the issue, and Jesse said it before, 1.5% of the voters in Michigan are Jewish? 1.4% -- we quoted a number a few weeks ago. Whatever that swing vote might be, if this is what the race ends on, this could very well be dispositive for him.
If it's not on gas prices, inflation, and ends on this, this could be a challenge.
Dana: So in any statewide race, the Democrat and Republican has to bring some independents across. He's talking about AOC and the Muslim Brotherhood in the last 19 days before the election.
Jesse: Yeah. I don't know. There's a rule. You don't talk about people's mommas. If your momma is Muslim Brotherhood, it's fair game.
Dana: Good to know.
Jesse: This came up with the debate with Rogers. You're not talking about momma. I know you're not. He said my mom, you know, she worked in a small business community.
So Welker on 'Meet the Press' Sunday was like, "Let's clear the air. Are you guys Muslim Brotherhood or not?" And he goes, "We're not." She goes, "Let's move on."
And I'm watching it. You know how much I watch the Sunday shows. I'm screaming at the television, "We know that the sister said this, Kristen." So what happened? Tom Llamas, nightly news guy, he goes there. Makes her look dumb. Makes her like she didn't do her research makes her look unprepared and confronts him.
I like that it was combative. He's talking about your mother. It's awkward. Your mother is Muslim Brotherhood. It's not hearsay. Your sister is on the record.
But to be fair to him, the mom didn't raise him. They split up when he was 3. He was raised by his stepmom. So he's like Muslim Little Brotherhood. It's not all there, but when you add that to the fact that he backs Sharia law and that his campaign is funded by Islamic groups that are unindicted co-conspirators, and he's tight with Piker, he has got a house in the Middle East, and he adores Tariq Ramadan, the grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood who is in prison for rape in France. Would Abdul pass a background check? Maybe, maybe not. I'm leaning maybe not. So he got exposed at that debate. You're seeing a Rogers bounce after that debate. The last three elections in Michigan, the Democrats have underperformed polls by 2.5%. Now, this race is a 2 point race. That means if it held today, Rogers wins.
There's a major anti-Abdul vote. People are coming from the hills, from the hollers, from everywhere, not necessarily "I'm with Rogers," but "I'm not with Abdul." That counts for a lot.
Dana: He's not a very persuasive guy, Greg.
Greg: Did Pete say he was going to vote for him?
Dana: Yes.
Greg: Does Mayor Pete have any idea what Islamists feel about gay people? Does that just play any role in his thinking? Or does he just put that aside, you know, for the benefit of a partisan instinct, which brings me back to the contest in general?
It's not between two extremes. It's between a known, somewhat boring conservative with a long public record. He's been around. Some dude who hasn't. His background, associations, and statements all are either murky, disturbing, or should scare you.
Jesse, you went through the associations. You could have gone on longer. He wants to abolish ICE. He calls Israeli policy genocide[sic] and apartheid[sic]. His half sister admits the family has long-term Muslim Brotherhood ties. His mother is active in groups that have worked with groups tied to al-Qaeda and Hamas. He denies it. So he's obviously lying.
He's denied his association with Hasan Piker and Sharia law. He claims he's not a socialist. They call him a comrade. It's the same thing that people don't understand about DSA.
He presents himself as a physician but is not licensed to practice medicine anywhere. That's him. On paper, bad news.
So that's the extreme. Let's look to the other guy. Mike Rogers, a former U.S. Army official, 14-year congressman. Get this: his Heritage Foundation score, while he was in the House, was 53%. That means that -- that's like about as middle of the road --
Dana: Susan Collins in Maine is higher than that.

Abdul would pass the same background test as ilhan Omar.
To become a Naval Officer in 1964, I had to pass am FBI Background Check.
Seems to me that when a person declares for the US Congress or Senate, they should have to pass the same test as I did!
Then the headlines would say “80% of House and Senate seats still vacant as election victors fail background checks.”
el-Sayed s such a slithering snake. 🐍
He practices ways to avoid replying and ways to ask questions of the questioners.
IF-——IF we had a working, honest media then could run but not hide.
We don’t.
Which one would you feel most comfortable with as an airline pilot on your flight? Good point, Greg.
