Politico published a troubling report Thursday claiming that President Donald Trump has been quietly shopping around for a replacement for White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
According to Playbook, four people with direct knowledge say Trump has been asking friends and allies what they think of Wiles and discussing who might replace her. Those sources claim the questions have picked up as the November midterms draw closer and Trump grows frustrated with his political standing.
NEW in @Playbook: Trump is asking close allies about CoS Susie Wiles, and floating possible future successors, per sources Knives are out for Wiles—with rivals privately putting recent headlines surrounding her daughter’s foreign lobbying in front of POTUS urging he make changes, per sources One senior elected GOP official who received a call from Trump said the president had raised “the first honest questions about Susie” Wiles has survived past efforts, and so far has yet to discuss how long she’ll remain chief of staff with the president, per source familiar Trump in statement to Playbook forcefully stood by his longest serving CoS More with @DashaBurns:— Will Steakin (@wsteaks) October 15, 2026
The names Trump has supposedly floated make for an eclectic list. It includes Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and Yankees president Randy Levine.
The report also claims that Wiles' rivals and critics have been feeding Trump negative coverage of her and her inner circle. Politico's sources also had plenty to say about Wiles herself.
"She's burned a lot of people," a Republican operative close to the White House told Playbook.

Kevin McCarthy? Oh hell no.
BS. They’ve already come out and called it BS as well.
Such garbage floats around from the libtard media
McCarthy? Come on. Bakersfield is his home-the place with a lotta cow dung. Can’t seem to get enough of the swamp.
Pulte hell no.
He sure can pick ‘em can’t he?
He is as bad as Paul Ryan, maybe worse. Another Mitt Romney acolyte. Trump would be insane to appoint McCarthy as Chief of Staff. Stephen Miller would be the best.
Yeah, just like Kash Patel meeting in Russia.
Two years is about the normal reign of a COS.
And she has been through the wringer. I wouldn’t blame her if she wanted out.
The next two years are going to be tough on whomever is in that job.
I don’t really believe that she’s being canned. She has probably decided to retire and enjoy life after her breast cancer scare. She’s supposedly cancer free now.
Qatari puppet Witkoff? Jeezus.
Ditto.
Rumors are politico is on suicide watch.
“sources” said, right?
I had to call bullchit at Kevin McCarthy. 😆
well if “Playbook” [whatever that is] has FOUR, count ‘em, FOUR anonymous sources, then “it” MUST be true, whatever “it” is! ... [though i suppose “it” would be even truer if there were FIVE anonymous sources]
Pathetic, the way these people just wet themselves like this. We all see it run down their legs, and they think nobody sees it.
The Patel in Russia Hoax was amazing, but Vince Coglianese wondered aloud on his podcast today if that was a "Canary Trap". That is something to consider.

” FOUR anonymous sources”
Well that’s double the sources that MS-Now said Patel just landed in Moscow today but I don’t know. Now if it was five anonymous sources, you can bet on it.
It’s absolutely good news that lying, leaking RINO Sleazy Wiles could soon be leaving. But Miller doesn’t seem like a good choice either.
As Morton Blackwell has said, “Personnel is policy.”
