10-year veteran Philadelphia police officer dies after West Philly ambush; 2nd officer stable

What we know: Officers were called to the 100 block of North 52nd Street just after midnight for a report of a person with a gun. When officers arrived, they were met with a barrage of gunfire in what an officer at the scene described as an ambush. ---SNIP---

During a Saturday morning press conference, Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel and Mayor Cherelle Parker confirmed the tragic passing of one of the officers. The fallen officer—identified as Shane Sieber—was a 40-year-old, 10-year veteran of the force. He leaves behind a wife, a 7-year-old son, and a 3-year-old daughter. He was shot three times.

Eric Lewis, the suspect in the deadly ambush on Philadelphia police officers, reportedly has an extensive criminal history.
According to an arrest/warrant record circulating on X, Lewis, 35, has a record listing:

1 homicide offense
2 aggravated assault offenses
3 gun-crime offenses
2 burglary offenses
4 drug offenses
1 motor vehicle theft offense The record also lists 14 Part II offenses and multiple additional arrests dating back to 2007.

Federal and State law in this country should mandate that anyone who kills another person unless by accident or in self-defense is guilty of murder regardless of any “mitigating circumstances”, and the penalty for same is immediate execution. NO EXCEPTIONS!
