Trump demands Europe release emergency diesel reserves

Donald Trump has demanded that Europe release emergency diesel reserves or risk being cut off from US supplies.

Britain joined crisis talks with European allies on Thursday after the US president threatened to choke off diesel exports to France and Germany.

Mr Trump is frustrated with the two EU powers, believing they have not met earlier pledges to release emergency oil and petrol supplies.

His administration is calling for tens of millions of barrels of fuel to be unlocked to lower pump prices for motorists.

A White House official said it was "in Europe's best interest to work with the United States", cautioning that the president was "evaluating all the options on the table". Mr Trump has said he is considering banning US diesel exports.

UK officials held calls with counterparts in Germany, France, Italy and Ireland to discuss the possibility of tapping fuel stockpiles.

Maroš Šefčovič;, the EU trade chief, warned that a US diesel ban "would have very dramatic consequences for our economic performance".

However, leaders resisted the pressure and instead called for a global deal on fuel.

I’m not sure that (at least in the short run) releasing Europe’s emergency diesel stores would have any effect beyond temporarily reducing Europe’s retail diesel prices … if it even does that. Just sayin’.

While the overwhelming majority of successful Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries have occurred in 2026, Ukraine began targeting Russian energy infrastructure as early as 2022, the campaign experienced an exponential, high-tech expansion in 2026, with the majority of the disabling of Russia’s refining capacity taking a downturn in 2026.

Trump should have ended the war in Ukraine within 24 hours like he promised.

During the 2024 campaign, Trump repeatedly claimed he could stop the war in 24 hours through direct leverage and personal relationships with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy:

Pathetic. But not surprising.

****************************

Trump can’t end the war because the two block head nations want to continue their war, which is now a pinprick war.

Also, the Congress & People who “lap up” any propaganda that is presented to them by the Establishment of the United States are all in on the Slava Ukraini project.

Nations act in their own self interest. The reserves of strategic raw materials are maintained by governments for the use of their own people. Would the United States allow the leaders of France and Germany to determine how and when US stockpiles of oil, helium, and other strategic materials are to be used? Of course not. Likewise, Trump is not the determiner of how European countries will use their resources. The President of the United States is not the dictator of the world.

Donald Trump started the Iranian War without consulting our European allies. He declared victory in Iran multiple times. Today the war is continuing with no end in sight. If Trump wanted the Europeans to support the war he should have consulted European leaders and reached agreement on sharing of cost and resources prior to beginning the bombing of Iran.

I don't think any reasonable person heard that and thought he meant he would end the war in literally one day.

perhaps trump should put a 50% export tariff on any usa oil exported to europe, effective immediately, to remain until the north sea oil fields are reopened. or sold to the usa.

also, make sure that all of the greenland oil stays in the western hemisphere.

Why are we exporting diesel if we have a shortage?

Funny, the WSJ didn’t report on the story as “Trump Demands.” Their reporting was G-7 has agreed to release 100 million barrels of reserve diesel.

But hey, let’s turn every story into an opportunity to TDS rage.

The knuckleheads are holding diesel reserves for their war on Russia. No diesel, no war....they could care less about their citizens.

“if it even does that. Just sayin’”

You’re right though. With the little amount they export, it will have little effect in anything to include the price. That is if the sellers are up front...which they aren’t.

As the US being the largest exporters of deisel on earth, those counries are punishing the countries around them. Somehow I think the locals will help with this.

“Trump should have ended the war in Ukraine within 24 hours like he promised.”

Unfortunately The leaders of the “waring” countries can’t commit to anything they say. So while Trump is providing ways to stop it, their egos and stupidity tosses the efforts down the river. Besides, the expansion of this war was the problem of the Biden adminstration as all they did was provide weapons to enlarge it. This was aided by the Biden administration supporting Ukraine’s military defense rather than forcing territorial concessions on Kyiv. That defense in time was turned into offence and attacks on Russian soil expanding the conflict. So what Trump got was a much larger war than he left and countries that were further apart from settling it than when he left in 2020.

And he has been beneficial in stopping and averting existing conflicts in numerous places. He may get it done yet, don’t count him out.

What was pathetic to me was the tenor of the posts.

End of Trump had done nothing, asked nothing of anyone, the same people would be complaining loudly that he wasn’t doing anything at all.

Like I said, it’s just pathetic.
