Republicans are pouring money into more than three dozen US House races previously considered “safe” after internal polling showed they could be vulnerable in the November 3 election, according to three Republican operatives familiar with the party’s thinking.
The shift is already starting to show in advertising reservations and campaign finance filings. Since September 1, major Republican groups and megadonors have begun spending in at least 39 congressional races where they haven’t previously deployed money this cycle, a Reuters review of spending by some of the largest Republican political groups shows.
Many of the candidates receiving new support sit in Republican strongholds and are still running ahead of Democratic opponents in public polls, these people said, indicating rising worry among party leaders over whether voters will use the November 3 election to air dissatisfaction over US President Donald Trump’s policies.
House Republican leaders recently warned dozens of campaigns that the party's internal data shows that they cannot assume they will win, even if they are currently ahead in public polls and represent districts Trump won by double digits, two of the people said.
“Republicans are playing defense in some of the strongholds that they're used to not having to worry about,” said Republican strategist Ron Bonjean, a partner at bipartisan public affairs firm Rokk Solutions.
Republicans currently hold a narrow 218-214 majority in the House, with one independent caucusing with Republicans and two vacancies. Democrats would need to net at least four seats in the midterms to take control of the chamber next year.

Not surprisingly given how they pissed away their majority
They need to triple the up to 74 campaign emails I get some days, and the eight texts saying 29,000,000X matching.
Again
“whether voters will use the November 3 election to air dissatisfaction over US President Donald Trump’s policies.”
That is not the major problem.
In off year elections folks air their dissatisfaction with the incumbent party (that they normally support) by staying home.
The takeaway question: can anyone see the propaganda of this article?
It would be nice if they named all of these supposedly endangered districts instead of just telling some anecdotes about 2 of them, one of which (WI-1, Steil) was never “safe” this year to begin with.
And as some people (ahem) warned months ago, the new GOP map in North Carolina which targeted one (1) Democrat district — that they may not actually win anyway — not only endangered the adjacent CD-3 but there are several others in the Tarheel State which hang low enough that Democrats could grab some of them in a bad year.
Combine the brutal 2026 electoral landscape with a complete non-entity (Whatley) at the top of the NC ticket and the recipe for disaster is complete. When that recipe comes out of the oven on November 3, North Carolina could easily be as horribly disappointing (at the U.S. House level and the state legislative level) as places such as Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan will very likely be.
I put zero trust in any poll but I can tell which way the wind goes s blowing.
Nope, no way. Not here in the blackpill paradise of FR. If it's negative to Trump or the Repubs, it's gospel and it's celebrated. (/spit)

The total generic ballot for recent midterms:
2022 - GOP 54.2M, DEM 51.2M
2018 - DEM 60.6M, GOP 50.9M
2014 - GOP 40.1M, DEM 35.6M
2010 - GOP 44.8M, DEM 39.0M
2006 - DEM 42.3M, GOP 35.9M
Turnout models tend to estimate that we will see higher raw turnout than 2018, with turnout hovering around 130 Million voters in lofty estimates. If the GOP can find 60 Million total voters (which would be ~77% of Trump’s 2024 total), they avoid a wipeout in even the doomsday scenario of high turnout. If the more “feasible” estimate of a 123 Million two-party voter turnout, getting 60 Million voters would allow for a reverse 2022 scenario. That’s the magic number.
People forget the GOP actually had respectable turnout in 2025. In fact, had they gotten that level in 2021, they would have actually beaten Phil Murphy. Issue is if the other side is more energized. The overall gap today is the real question, though I must say that an enthusiastic vote counts just as much as an unenthusiastic one.
Reuters. Rat BS.
Yup. And you need not go past the headline. Where is their article on how cash strapped tge rats are?
The more relevant question: is this article accurate?
Yes, I think it is.
“I put zero trust in any poll but I can tell which way the wind goes s blowing.”
In this case, the winds of communist propaganda are blowing strong.
Their intent is to make republicans think we can’t win.
Very often, the details portray a larger, unspoken message.
In this case, the unspoken message is to make republicans afraid.
All I needed to see that was Reuters.
Funny thing about that wind blowing- i live in an uber liberal part of NY- just above NYChitty....
Today the rats polis running in local elections and congress trotted mark kelly of Arizona out to campaign for them...why would liberals in a liberal area feel the need to bring a rat politician from the other side of the nation to NY in the middle of a nor’easter to campaign for them???
Accuracy doesn’t matter here if it reflects poorly on the GOP.
in other words, now we’re past labor day and voters are getting interested, it’s the right time to spend advertising money. TYhis isn’t an issue for the left as msm gives them 100% fawning coverage year round for free.
