Her mea culpa about her daughter’s schooling is neither brave nor admirable.
My daughter,” wrote Nikole Hannah-Jones in 2024, “is not worth more than any other child.”
This assessment was offered as part of a reflection on a New York Times essay that Hannah-Jones had written eight years earlier on the subject of choosing an appropriate school. In tandem, she imparted two other reflections: that the school she’d made such a commotion about picking was clearly “failing”; and that, regardless, she still believed she had “made the right choice.”
Two years later, she has changed her mind. Or, rather: Two years later, her daughter has changed her mind for her. Having eventually learned what her mother had done to her, her daughter “just shook her head, her face a mask of disbelief, and something else: betrayal,” the writer admitted this week in the Times.
For penning this mea culpa, Hannah-Jones has received a good deal of praise. Well, you can count me out of all that. Her actions were morally indefensible and analytically ignorant, and her supposed metamorphosis remains invisible to the naked eye. She has always been a ridiculous zealot. Now, she’s a cautionary tale, too.

Not such an unusual case. Hannah-Jones had a black father and a white mother. She was raised primarily in white culture. She became self loathing and of course used politics in an attempt to cope with her conflicts. She not only cultivated bizarre thinking and practices but came to loathe her own daughter. Sad for her and her daughter.

The other day someone was kind enough to post an around the paywall link to the entire NYT piece. Like the work of all lib hack faux intellectuals, it is so long and turgid. I couldn’t get through it. But apparently it contains a discussion of how the daughter feels about it. She’s aware she got a crappy education, knows why that was, and she’s not at all pleased about it
Same happened with Colon Krapperdick.

Hannah-Jones has contributed to failing schools by fostering the notion in young Blacks that learning is somehow racist.
How will her daughter feel about the all this? And where is her daughter today? What are the chances her daughter becomes conservative?
As she has cushy sinecures lavished on her, applause, accolades and rewards showered on her, including a Pulitzer Prize, none of which she would have ever received had she been White - b/c of shoddy journalism and false accounts of history.
