Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings and his wife have emerged as two major donors seeking to block a California ballot measure that would establish strict voter ID requirements.
The media boss gave $1 million towards the effort to stop Prop. 39, which would require voters to provide proof of citizenship and personal identification in order to vote — which backers claim is necessary to stamp out voter fraud.
Hastings’ donation came on Sept. 3, according to Secretary of State records, as California Dems rally against Prop. 39.
The Netflix boss’ wife of 35 years, Patty Quillin, gave a cool $1.5 million on Aug. 31.
Fifty-five percent of California voters were opposed the voter ID measure in a just-released Public Policy Institute of California poll, while 43% supported it.
“California politicians are getting special interests to bankroll their dishonest smear campaign against Prop 39, but in the end we are confident voters will vote YES on Prop 39 because it is truly the bipartisan solution for Voter ID to restore trust in our democracy,” said Republican Assemblymember Carl DeMaio in a statement.
Prop. 39 was placed on the ballot in response to concerns about potential weaknesses in the voting system alongside a federal bid for tighter voting requirements by President Donald Trump.
The measure, supported by The Transparency Foundation, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and an array of Republican officials, would require voters to show government ID to vote in person. It would also ask those who vote by mail to provide the last four digits of a piece of identification on their ballots in order to verify their eligibility.

I don’t understand why they would try to allow anyone other than US citizens determine how our country should be governed. I suppose follow-the-money still applies here, but I don’t understand it.
The liberals have decided that voter ID laws are bad. They have decided that too many black folks don’t have an ID, or don’t know how to get an ID, and so it’s racist to have voter ID laws.
Because socialism, once enshrined, does not allow the hoi palloi the opportunity to compete for wealth. People like Hastings know that if you get people hooked on meager government handouts, they are less likely to challenge the position and wealth of the elite.

There can be NO legitimate reason to not endorse voter ID requirements unless you want there to be massive fraud in the electoral process. Their opposition shows all you need to know about how much they need to cheat to keep Dems in power. I will always believe the only reason Hillary “LOST” was because the Dems believed the fake polls and didn’t realize how much they needed to cheat especially in Wisconsin. In 2020, they vowed to not make that underestimation again so Demented JOE “got” over 82 million “votes”...Right !!! Sure he did.
