This kind of activism gets people killed. Judges included. People have had enough of leftist overreach.

What people have to do is exempt themselves and not be dictated to by these tyrants in black robes.

There are families with very low income. There are parent(s) that can't afford to trade/lose employment income to affect home schooling. Private and parochial schools are expensive. Our government does not offer parents school vouchers, which could pay for private and parochial schools. So unfortunately, there are many families that have no option but to send their kids to public schools.
School vouchers that allow parents to send their kids to private and parochial schools is the answer IMHO. The quid pro quo relationship between government and teachers unions prevents vouchers and true school choice from happening.
Those are all just excuses.
I was in exactly that situation. When we got married I had a pretty low income. We lived within our means. We still live below our means. Small homes, used cars, limited toys. Our kids never saw the inside of an airplane until they were adults and bought their own tickets. Vacations usually included staying at the In-Laws or a large tent.
Dinner was often something simple tossed into a casserole and baked. Mac and Cheese Bake.
There’s an old saying translated from Latin. Find a way or make a way.
Your family is your most important ministry. Period, no exceptions. Shipping your most prized asset to be brainwashed and reprogrammed for 8 hours a day by satanically influenced “teachers” is willfully giving up on your job.
No excuses.
In Mass the state took girl away from her parents after the school transitioned her the now parents are trying to keep the state from sterilizing their child. This is where we are

Let’s say you have three kids and send them to private school.
That’s $54,000 minimum for Catholic schools and $75,000+ for Protestant schools.
K-12 that makes $702,000-$975,000 total.
IMHO it is time to consider ending government controlled compulsory education. The never ending mandates from the state is one reason. These ignore community input, responsibility, and self determination.
You can homeschool for about $1000 a kid. Less for the younger ones.
Witness the diktat of the fascist Administrative State in which administrative law trumps all constitutional rights.
Yeah, how long ago was that? How large of a portion of your income had to go to daily necessities? Did you have any chronic illnesses to pay for of were you and your family healthy? Were you a two-income household or could one parent stay home?
I’m going to guess it’s been over 20 years, in which case, things have changed quite a lot.
If you’re a single father no you can’t.
That’s why accounted for inflation. We homeschooled four kids for $1-2009 a year. The last one graduated a few years ago.
The key is to live below your means.
You are looking at the big picture—which is fine.
Meanwhile—individual parents should do everything within their power to home school their kids.
As you say not all can achieve that goal—but it should be the desired outcome—a goal for all parents.
Subcontracting out education of a child to a bunch of crazed leftist teachers and administrators is child abuse.
Parents should be honest with themselves on that point.
