Supreme Court blocks Missouri from using redrawn GOP-friendly maps in November election

The Supreme Court Thursday rejected a bid to implement a new congressional map in Missouri that would have likely given Republicans an extra seat in the House of Representatives.

In an order with no noted dissents the high court imposed a stay on the map while a lawsuit brought by opponents of the redistricting gambit makes its way through the legal system.

For now, Missouri must use the map implemented following the 2020 census, which has returned a House delegation of six Republicans and two Democrats.

The new map would have carved up parts of Kansas City to weaken the Democrats’ grip on the 5th Congressional District, represented by Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.). That would have made the 1st District, repped by St. Louis Democrat Wesley Bell, the lone blue House seat in the Show-Me State.

The Missouri Supreme Court last week ordered state Secretary of State Denny Hoskins to put the new map on the November ballot for a referendum, which he did. It also ruled that the new districts never became law and instead were suspended retroactively to a December 2025 petition submission by liberal organizers.

On Tuesday, St. Louis federal judge Stephen Clark barred Hoskins from using anything other than the new map, prompting the appeal that led to Thursday’s stay.

That is why the globalists/commies file a lawsuit on everything — to delay. They just have to retake the House and the West is doomed.

I don’t know about this Missouri thing. But it would seem to me that a congressional map should at least roughly mirror how the state voted in, say, the last presidential election.

For example, in 2024, 36% of Massachusetts voters voted for Trump.
Yet the state doesn’t have a single Republican US House representative.
Something is very wrong with that.

And yes, I know my suggestion is a knife that cuts both ways.

It is the LEGISLATURE that determines district mapping. The LEGISLATURE passed the map more than a year ago and primary voting was already accomplished in accordance with that legally binding map THAT THE LEGISLATURE PASSED.

With no authority whatsoever given to the state SCOTUS they changed horses in mid-stream AFTER the primary voting was completed.

A states SCOTUS can order the LEGISLATURE to change a map, they have no authority to pick and choose what map to use.

Changing horses in the middle of the race?

It’s more bizarre than that. The primaries have already been held based on the new map, but SCOTUS says the general election must be held based on the old map. I have no idea how that is supposed to work.

That makes it Democrats 207, Republicans 206.

“They just have to retake the House and the West is doomed.”

Whether the whistling-past-the-graveyard types like it or not, there is about a 99% chance (rounding down) of that happening in a few weeks regardless of the disposition of 1 GOP-targeted House seat in Missouri.

It’s not real likely to come down to a mere 218-217 Democrat win in November.

The Hail Mary hope is that after 2 years of Democrat insanity and total obstruction of Trump in 2027-28 (aided by possible Democrat control of the Senate as well), that the GOP will rebound in 2028 due to voter revulsion.

Problems:

1. Even the most nutzoid Rat presidential candidate in 2028 has a better than even chance of winning. And that nutzoid’s coattails may be something other than non-existent.

2. The willfully ignorant will disagree, but there are a LOT of House seats which Democrats could — and mostly will — gerrymander in their direction by 2028. When it comes to future gerrymandering, the mantra of “The GOP can still gain House seats in many places! Democrats have shot their wad already! Massachusetts is already 100% Democrat herp derp!” is almost exactly backwards.

Though they are right about Massachusetts, anyway.

Traitors? Whatever you think of the Missouri Supreme Court, their Opinion seemed to be correct.

We keep the Senate, Senate is more important than the House. The House will be closer than people think. Democrats need a Generic Ballott win of 5 points to flip it.

Democrats would be highly dysfunctional, with constant disagreements within the cacaus. Time would be wasted on President Trump. And of course, more bad policies.

The Republican majorities have done what they were capable of, which is nothing.

The two party system (which is very bad, but won’t be changing any time soon) follows a brutal logic, which is leading to Democrat majorities in the House and Senate in January. I expect the Democratic majority in the House to be significant.

The GOP has stood by since 1994 while the ruination of the nation has accelerated. Too bad, so sad - but they had their shot and their time is now over.

For the rats a 1 seat majority will be as good as a 100 vote majority.
