AfD leader Alice Weidel has said her party would seek to take Germany out of both the euro and the Schengen agreement if it entered the federal government, setting out one of its most far-reaching challenges to the country's existing European framework.
Speaking in ZDF's summer interview, Weidel also pledged to close Germany's borders and argued that the country had been economically stronger before adopting the single currency.
Euro Exit Returns to AfD Agenda
Weidel reaffirmed the AfD's commitment to leaving the euro, saying she still supported the position in the party's federal election program.
“Germany was significantly better off before the introduction of the euro,” she said.
She described the euro as an unstable and weakened currency and linked it to what she characterized as the broad impoverishment of working sections of the population.
Weidel said Germany no longer benefited from a strong currency and argued that the euro's weakening had cost ordinary households wealth.

Plus deport all the filthy goat humpers.
She’s about to be lawfared
Winning is contagious.
Back in the 1990s, it was openly acknowledged that the Euro was a quid pro quo between Germany and other European countries. Germany was subsidizing other European countries through the Euro but also imposing control and fiscal discipline on them with the Euro. That is one of the reasons why Thatcher hated it so much. That is why there were riots in Greece when the EU tried to impose economic discipline on the country. And why there were riots in France when the government tried to impose economic discipline on the country’s heavily subsidized and protected, but incredibly inefficient farm industry. In theory, it might have worked to impose fiscal discipline and get rid of protectionism (within Europe). But it didn’t happen and Germany was left holding the bag to a certain extent. I guess AfD is realizing that.
But it did work, exactly as the German elites intended. German exports to other European countries were fundamentally limited because Germany's trade surplus caused the Deutschemark to rise, making its exports unaffordable.
Thje Euro made it possible for German banks to loan money to European countries to buy German goods. At the same time, the Hartz IV reforms severely cut back on Germany's unemployment and welfare benefits while German firms could move component production to Eastern Europe for low wages.
The net effect was much higher prices for German workers and lower salaries and benefits. This disproportionately affected the former East Germany because investment and jobs that could have gone there went east.
Then when it blew up during the 2008 debt crisis, the European Central Bank quietly bought out the debts of commercial banks who had lent money to Greece, replacing commercial debt with German public debt, effective saddling German taxpayers with the losses.
So to ordinary Germans, the whole effort was a scam designed to socialize losses and privatize profits, just like our bailouts. Then on top of that, Merkel's illegal opening of the borders without consulting parliament flooded Germany with so many ME scum that half their current welfare budget goes to foreign "refugees." Employers, of course, want this to continue to provide cheap labor.
So the German elite, dominated by both leftist identity politics and globalist money grasping, have resolutely refused to make the policy changes needed by the German people. The result is the AfD.
I can only dream that someone will impose fiscal discipline in our country
AI, does LePen propose leaving the european union?
AI Overview
Marine Le Pen does not officially propose leaving the European Union anymore, having explicitly dropped her past campaigns’ goals for a “Frexit,” abandoning the euro, or leaving the Schengen Area.
